You had better call NASA and fill them in on that news because NASA uses them exclusively and has had fantastic results. Of course not growing pot but for growing in general.
It has been proven that LED’s are superior to other sources of light for growing because they put out the precise spectrums of light plants need and no others that plants do not use and they hardly use any energy doing it and put off almost no heat doing it.
Their only problem is they are not cost affective and instead are cost prohibitive for most people right now.
If their prices would drop considerably they would put every other form of grow light out of business.
Dude, NASA used them because they do not require a lot of power to operate, have a long life, and they emit little to no heat. You need to read a little bit more because I see no claims by NASA that in a conventional indoor environment that LEDs have more benifits for plant growth than HID, HPS, or Fluorescent lighting.

The lights available to NASA are what we will see in 10 years.... We don't have access to those as of yet... And it depends on the plants.
marijuana is one of the most light loving plants on the earth... The Aerograden grows awsome peppers too, but not very good nugs.... that is if they are unaltered..
This too, NASA is using a specific type of LED. It's not your run of the mill get it at Radio Shack LED, however I still doubt their current LED being better than HID and HPS lights. NASA is in the business of creating new findings and you have to test and test and just because NASA is doing studies with something does not mean it is better. It just means there is potential.
