I have drove strait through from Detroit to Sarasota Fl. 25 hours. And I once drove from Detroit to Maine without sleep. It's a bad idea to try and I will never drive more than 12 hours again. I have horror stories and nightmares about waking up doing 85-90 mph through the fuckin mountains. Or waking up from a dream and realize your driving...these things are not good. And once your deep in the mountains or a desert and you've decided to try and keep going...you may not have another chance to safely pull over...at thats when things can get scary. It's really best to just add an on a day or two if you can...and drive like 12-14 hours, then rest for 4 hours. The road will screw with your head at night...in Vermont I had been driving for 20 hours, it was 3am, and I was the only car on the road. No street lights+new blacktop+fresh white painted lines+Mountains= I almost fuckin died. The black road, dark sky, and mountains all look the same...and I kept falling asleep. And no rest stops in that whole state I guess...I was fucked...so be carfull.
Good luck
Peace

Drove from the Deep South to Seattle in about 48 hours. I would drive as long as I could, pull over and take a nap, then keep rolling once I woke up. I wouldn't do it again like that- it felt like a bad dream that just wouldn't end.

When i used to drive for a living i regularly drove from fill up to fill up, and i averaged 35 to 38 hours on both tanks together. I had to urinate in bottles and only stopped when i was low on fuel and while my tanks were filling i took a quick shower and grabbed some food and supplys and if i was lucky a quick nap and was gone again. Although I made extreemly good money I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone as it is very hard on your health, and probably took years off of my life.

well, I just arrived back in Arkansas from New Jersey. It took me around 23 hours of driving (only stops were for restroom breaks and food and gas) and those were the only times I stopped. I made good time if I may say so myself... ;)

Why do you need to worry about law enforcement when you are law enforcement?

I drove from San Diego CA to Mendocino CA and back down to Long Beach in 20 hours. So pretty much covered the entire I-5 freeway and the state of CA in a day. The guy at the rental car company thought he goofed the mileage, wondering how in less than a day, I managed to put over 1,000 miles on the car. Wonder if he smelled the trunk...

I stayed up with 5 hour energy shots. Because they are the mother fuckin' TRUTH!

EDIT: On the way up there I did 20 over the limit, on the way back I did 5 over the limit... no reason as to why. *cough cough* ;)

EDITx2: Upon returning from my trip, I walked into a CVS pharmacy only to witness the shelves sway back and fourth. I left with haste and took my sleep deprived ass to sleep.
