they're trying to get a ballot initiative for 2012 legalizing it for medical use. until then i feel pretty ok about the fact that anything under a zip is a traffic ticket.

Yup, $100 dollar fine for anything less than an ounce. Since they can't bring you into jail, all you have to do is say you don't have your wallet and make up a fake name and there is nothing they can do to get you to pay the fine. Cops in this state have supposedly stopped enforcing the law because there is so little they can do and its a waste of time.

I read the police and court logs in the local papers every day. You never see weed in there anymore. Under an ounce is a civil infraction, not criminal and they cannot force you to provide ID on it.

i know plenty of people who got the fine and never paid it. stupid government didn't even tie it to the dmv or anything so if you don't pay there's nothing they can do.
some things that people need to understand though:

smoking it in public or anywhere else is still a crime
having it packaged in sepearate bags (even if altogether it weighs less than an oz) is still a crime
having a scale with it is still attempting to distrubute, still a crime

people are pretty stupid about it. it's not legal at all. people think this means you can go on a blunt ride through the police station parking lot with the windows down and the music blasting. fucking idiots are going to ruin it for everyone.

im wondering about the ballot 2012 thing? that is gonna like change growing conditions. any more info?
