For me the most important thing to assure good germination rate is temp. Get a heating pad and put it in a cardboard box. moisten a paper towel with distilled water, squeeze it out. Lay paper towel flat on plate. Lay seeds on top of paper towel. Cover seeds/paper towel with bowl. cut off any of the paper towel that sticks out beyond the bowl when you cover the seeds. Lay everything on top of the heating pad in the box. Set temp at 85f. close the box. Put the box in a cupboard or closet. Check it a few times a day and plant any seeds that show a 1/4" root. I like to soak my seeds overnight in a shot glass of distilled water before I put them into the moist paper towels.

I have always had 10/10 using a wet paper towel folded a couple times with the seeds under a fold put that in a Tupperware dish with the lid on and put somewhere dark that is warm i put mine under a small box in my reptile tank and with in 24 hours you will see roots break out. Keep wetting as needed but i usally get the papertowel pretty wet not dripping but wet the first time and don;t usally have to touch it again untill i move the seeds into dirt.

I was hoping for a good way of soaking the seeds in water the whole time until they sprout the root... any way of doing that?

pre germ.: place seeds in a cloth or paper towel inside of a zip lock bag with a few banana peels.

germ.: soak seeds in a cup of warm water for 24 hrs, then place seeds in a damp towel with a heating pad. for best results mix some aspirin in the water at 1.5 aspirin / 2gal for both soaking and paper towel method.

pre germ permeates Ethelyn into the seed which gives a greater % of female.

Use sterilized tweezers, room temp water, folded paper towel.

Put in solid tupperware container with lid.

Put on tv cable box.

You don't need any heating pads!! Try this ..use bottle water like Aquafina and soak a few paper towels. Next, put the seeds in the center of the paper towels.Than put the paper towels in a plastic food container or some sort of plate.
Last thing put it in a dark place like a dresser or closet!

And trust me it will work let me know how it works out !
and don't use tap water it will kill the seeds trust me on this I been through this before..ahah

germinating your seeds at a controlled 85f will infinitely increase germination success. a heating pad is the best way I know of to do this.

basically what everyone is sayin is, trying to germ your seeds by throwin them in some water for a couple days, aint a good idea. basically if your gonna do that, you may as well try germing them by soaking them in the base of your toilet bowl, and constantly pulling on the flush lever.

What everyone is saying is right. I took a plastic picnic plate n broke it in half, n taped one side over the other, makin it look like a nice lightproof box. After that, i cut out a piece of paper plate to the size of the inside of my box. After that, i take a PAPER TOWEL (sound farmiliar, lol?) and i drench that shit, n just squeeze water out of it til its not DRIPPING wet anymore. After that, i open it back up, fold it in half, and stick a # of seeds from the same strain in there, and fold it in half again, and then once more. Then i close my box, and throw a small piece of tape on the end very lightly, just to make sure the lid doesnt flip up.

After that, just throw it on top of my burberry mirror tray, and then onto the top of my cable box. I use the tray as a buffer between my box n the cable box, so nothing gets TOO TOO hot. But after two days *voila!* you got at LEAST a 90% germ n all of them have at least a 1/4 inch taproot. Take those out, and leave the ungermed ones in there. The next day your germ rate goes from 90 to 100%.

I hope this answered your original question, and i hope you try to germ again, and have better luck with the advice everyone gave you. Its really the simplest part of the whole grow, lol.

good luck brother

I gotta way thats worked everytime for me so. No paper towels, and sorry, it doesn't involve much water. Just the expanding jiffy pot deals. Soak em with distilled, then stick the beans in. 3-4 days=sproutage! Sorry, but i don't think u can really do what ur sayin, sounds like dwc for seeds

Why cant you just leave a seed in like an inch of water for like 2 days or 3 days until it gets that taproot?

Anyways... I soaked my seeds in water for 24 hours... planted them... and now they have all sprouted about 3 days later... so it took them only 4 days to germinate AND sprout out of soil... seems pretty good...

Actually, I think the toilet bowl thing would be better. All that flushing would at least aerate the water.

I soak them over night, stick them into rapid rooter plugs, keep them somewhere warm and dark until they sprout. Works for me.

I agree with this. I've germinated twice, both times I used a folded paper towel. Soaked the towel in tap water then wrung it out, then put the seeds in and put them on a plate, then covered the plate with an upside down bowl and made sure no paper towl was sticking out. Put it in a warm dark place for a few times. Both times I've had 100% germination.

Put them in a pot with soil, put clingfilm over pot, put somewhere dark and warm, check every 24 hours till sprouted.
Works everytime for me.
