whats the best soil to use for an indoor closet?

whats good im about to start growing an I was wondering if any1 had tips on what kind of soil to use.

Hey bro go to your local menards or home depot get miracle grow potting soil also get a bag of schultz potting soil. Mix them together an put into a pot don't pack the dirt into the pot big no. But that's all I have used for years works awesome if u got any ?s lemme kno

Also if your gonna actually grow in a closet make sure there is good ventilation and put your dirt in a pot that won't melt ant put it into your oven heat the dirt at 200 degrees for 10 min to kill out all the little living bugs in the dirt

nah i wouldnt do soil i would go with coco or hydro hahaha i have only gotten bugs with soil.......is this your first grow ?

yeahh this is my first grow ive read up on the soil way i havent really read anything about the hydroponics tho

If this is your first go for soil hydro and coco are not for beginners at all when god made pot he put it in soil not a. Advanced hydroponic system keep it simple now go big later once you have grown a couple times

lmao i am a first time grower i tried soil nothing but bugs....switch my girls over to a DIY hydro system bam loving it now ......to me you have to be really good at growing to get good plants and harvest in soil with a hydro you plug in a pump and a timer thats it then check your nutes and water every 4 days to a week.........every ones different thoe........keep up the growing

Growing in coco just as easy as soil if not easier! It can be used with whatever grow method you choose from hydro to pots to outdoors etc.

If your going to use soil you may want to look into adding perlite. I use a 1/3 perlite 2/3 soil mix.

if u choose soil, ignore the first reply about miracle grow.

go to a local hydro store and get fox farm ocean forest or roots organic, just to name a few.

i will agree with the above. fox farm does have a variety of products that will suit. i like to use the light warrior. it practically is soil just not nearly as heavy to move, and there are no pests to deal with. i was a die hard soil advocate... but that was b4 i tried hydro. my hydro method is the pour it yourself watering method. it doesnt take an expensive watering machine to feed and water your hydro plants, you an just hand water your hydro setup. l8r in my plants life i add a mixture of several mediums in different layers of my pots for grater diffusion. when you get down to it... hydro is easier. the medium is easier to manage than soil and i cant begin to tell you how much easier it is to defend from pests in hydro. the only difference i say is that you need to have some experience with the plant foods, in my experience... the miracle grow that is mixed into your watering bucket has worked great for my pour it yourself method. when directions are followed correctly, some plant foods will be at the correct ph after mixing any way, and ph down is easy to find. (i use vinegar)

fresh air in, and hot co2 depleted air out... usually two holes and one fan will do the trick. the bigger the crop and the grow room, the bigger the holes and fan will need to be. i like to put my grow rooms in closets that have the access to the attic in them. that way i just put a box fan in the hole in the ceiling pointing up, and the air from in the house is drawn into the closet over my crop up past the lamps up the hole in the ceiling, and ventilated through the attic and OUT the vents in the eves of the home. if smell becomes a concern, you can cover the eves of the home on the inside with filters.

I agree with the other posts above, stay away from miracle grow period. I have been using Fox Farm Ocean Forest and have had great results. You can also try Fox Farm Happy Frog, it's a little cheaper...

Also get yourself some quality nutrients and NOT Miracle Grow. Fox Farm nutrients are a popular choice around here, I have been using the Fox Farm 6 step nutes for all my grows and I haven't found any reasons to switch, and have had great results

The best soil to use is debatable and never ending
and if this is your first grow soil is more forgiveable then hydro
coco would work if you want to use it or just of and get some good quality soil from homedepot

Use 100% perlite...look up the threads on it or just look at the one in my signature. Perlite is like growing in soil but is a passive type hydro.

Stay away from coco if this is your first grow. Its easy if you have the right nutes but from the sounds of it you wont. Also stay away from the soils at Home Depot...infested with bugs.

miracle gro works just fine. the only problem i have ever had has been over watering. 100 % perlite is a decent medium, but i have found perlite to be more likely to grow algae

If you do need to use potty soil.Miricle grow is a no no. Use Scotts instead. Before potty it, spread it out on a cookie sheet and bake it at around 250-275 for a full 30 minutes. The smell is kinda rank but it will kill the bugs. Then after cooling mix it with pertlite, around a 40pert/60soil rate. less pert if watering when needed is a problem. Aslo the Scotts has enough nutes for the first week or so of growth. Least this has worked for me in past closet growths. Good Luck

Just another good point about coco becuse its very hard to overwater it
