I see claims that led lights are better than HPS for flower now. Going to try led light. What is the best led light for flower? And what size would be good for 4x4 foot area? I’ve used Ushio HPS with good results in the past. But I see people saying led produces more potency than HPS

Gavita, synce led, HLG, California lightworks, Fluence, All of these are great light companies.
The synce led raging kush 2, and some of California lightworks lights have spectrum tuning which is a game changer in my opinion.

I was being as specific as I can be with the knowledge I have. I’ve read many different things online about led vs HPS. Some claim led yields more and the weed is more potent under led. Some claim that if you don’t have the best led light then they’re won’t be potent weed. I’m wondering what is the best light for yield and potency potential. I have good genetics that is pretty potent under HPS

LED will beat HPS in everything but yield. I went from 1000w Double-Ended HPS to 700-800w LEDs and I never get the same yields even with an adjusted environment, co2 supplementation blahblah. LED has a lot of hype but it doesn't mean it's bad. LED is far more efficient and low maintenance than HPS.
If I were going to buy only one LED light it would be the Growers Choice 720 with the lighting controller and UV boost bars.
If your going for max yield you will be dissapointed by LED. YES leds can achieve 2 pounds per light but thats probably the MAX someone has yielded personally, its always BRO I KNOW A GUY THAT YIELDED 3 POUNDS PER 600W LED BRO.
I've grown dozens of different strains in small pots, big pots, medium pots, super soil, coco, promix, full lines of nutrients back to basically base nutrients and I promise you the best you will see on average from LED is usually around 1 gram per watt of trimmed flower with a balanced feed, proper pH, co2 supplementation, 1.2-1.4 VPD and solid genetics.
I own 3 x Growers Choice 680s, 3 x Growers Choice 720s and 3 x LUXX 645 Pros, they all average around 1.1 gpw dry trimmed flower, a lot of ppl that say they got 3 pounds are probably weighing the total biomass meaning untrimmed buds with stems etc or they're just a bold faced liar.

I'm doing about a g per watt under Mars hydro panels and my shit is not dialed in. Grow I was taught on was multiple HPS lights and we were runny a perpetual monoculture and maxed out at 1.1g/w
Not gonna buy any more panels bar style has much better coverage.
LEDs have a run time of 30k-100k hrs
HPS Are like 5k, burn yourself if you touch them and they have been know to explode
My lung room is regulated buy my houses hvac I don't have a ac, dehumidifier or anything like that in my room. No possible way i could get away with doing that running HPS.
But to answer the question posed in your title the "best light" can not be bought, it's in the sky and it's free

Definitely depends on the size of the setup. I get 300-350g dry from my 200~W light in a tiny 70cm tall tent. The tent is so small that you wouldn't be able to fit a 250W HPS in there. Also I wouldn't be able to get 300+g with a 250W HPS.
There was a long gap in between the two. And lots of other variables. Your tricomes are going to have a much higher canabinal potency then your calyx will. Certain frequencies of light have been proven to increase tricome production. It dose not matter what source the light comes from as long as it is the right balance in the light spectrum.

No... I would say it's about the same. Genetics greatly dictate potency.
That sounds right, a 600w with those numbers would be 2 pounds on the dot around 1.5 GPW.
I have hit 1.5 GPW but its very strain dependent, my average yield is around 1.1-1.2 GPW all said and done. And again of course I am talking dry trimmed flower weight not whole plant or counting trim weight. If I counted trim weight I pull around 1.5-1.6 grams per watt.
