So I'm getting a kit from timber that they say is 56% efficient. Is there anything in the near future from cree that will beat that? I've searched and can't find much.
Maybe a DE fixture? They are pretty nice!!!!!So I'm getting a kit from timber that they say is 56% efficient. Is there anything in the near future from cree that will beat that? I've searched and can't find much.
DE does not beat current COB efficiency at anything but lumens per dollar, and that gap is quickly closing now that you can buy $40-$60 chips that run out to 200-300+W each at HPS efficiencyMaybe a DE fixture? They are pretty nice!!!!!
never. makes more sense to buy more of the cheap, new, efficient chips and run them beside your 'old' 3590s turned down to 20W each at 65% efficiencyMaybe, the real question is when do the current 3590 owners expect to upgrade?
finally, some deetz on the new crees.. that first sentence makes me sound like they are gonna work the premium train. they are gonna have to be something special to compete with the new veros that will be selling in the $20s, but people always have and always will value name brands regardless of actual value or performance (apple, gavita, etc). we have cheapish chips now pushing 200 lm/W but again thats meaningless without knowing what wattage 700 mA corresponds to...its clear.... the new cree 3695.... .... comes only on top bins... and her SPDs are awesome for horticulture...
...up to 220 Lm/ W... ....driven at 700 mA... and comes with a preaplied awesome thermal pads...
....comes first in europe to fight with the new osram horticultural cobs........
..and the new cree cob comes with the new MW driver high effic..96%.... 4 in 1 dimming options... wifi and bluetoth options....
...arrive in America...the next year 2017... the prototype comes first in europe... too curious...
I was just recommending a great light source is all. I mean for 370-500 bucks you can get a DE fixture and crank out a minimum of 2.25 units on any strain.DE does not beat current COB efficiency at anything but lumens per dollar, and that gap is quickly closing now that you can buy $40-$60 chips that run out to 200-300+W each at HPS efficiency
Ill take any bet you want to bet bro. You just tell me when your harvesting and we will both put up the pics and numbers scales on deck all that shit. I can do it in roughly 5 weeks or we can wait till we both start on the same date. Fuck ill even go further and put your 400 worth of cobs against my SE hps with 2 year old bulbs. If I loose I loose but be ready to show your shit bro. All I did was make a recommendation to the OP, you don't have to go all know it all on me dude. So just let me know. It'll be fun!!!ill take that bet. heres 850W @ $466 sans frame and some mild assembling - which would prob match the DE HPS while dimmed down to 650W with a lot of headroom to spare.

as an aside dont forget to add $50-$100 a year for bulb replacement for your hps
A kit is plug and play as well. I have cob kits bro.a kit is still a kit.
...Im only joking a bit... ...its wekend time... relajate, disfrutalo y pasalo...finally, some deetz on the new crees.. that first sentence makes me sound like they are gonna work the premium train. they are gonna have to be something special to compete with the new veros that will be selling in the $20s, but people always have and always will value name brands regardless of actual value or performance (apple, gavita, etc). we have cheapish chips now pushing 200 lm/W but again thats meaningless without knowing what wattage 700 mA corresponds to
i like the sound of the meanwell tech that is universally applicable. hopefully cree doesnt hog it with exclusivity
HLG600s are 96% efficient now....
