I remember when people had to actually build and earn their reputation. Apparently all you need to do is show up claiming you have a vagina and the rep just floods in. I'll remember this if I ever make a troll/sock puppet account.

Not mad, just noticing a pattern. That's all. When I joined I had to earn my rep by giving good advice, posting a witty comment or a pic of my buds to get rep. Now all you need to do is show up and say you are a girl. I'm not against rep or anything, I just think its completely lost its meaning when you get tons of it purely for being a girl. Excuse me, claiming to be a girl. Still no pics.

Hey I know what you mean bro, I earned my rep at first but not people go nuts with it so I said fuck it and followed along, what can I say I'm a rep whore now lol.
 
I don't know who to trust anymore... I used to look at reps and say... yeah, he must know what he's talking about....

Notice I said "he". I guess I will have to ask if the person giving the advice if a female so I know if I can trust the reps.

Chartreuse and I were having a good discussion on free will, soul, consciousness, etc.
Now she's more interested in getting attention than replying to my questions, lol.
 
I remember back where there was a new "what's your rep" thread for everyone to rep-whore in every couple weeks -- back in 2010. Then the crackdown, and then it was reasonable, and rep meant something, again. Now, yeah, any thread whore can trick it up and get mad rep status.

I can't say I'm not guilty of rep whoreing, but like you said it was after the rep lost all meaning. And I already had earned full bars. I go nits with likes all day, that's what they are for. But I still reserve rep for a witty comment at the least, and good grow advice at best.
