Yo so you other promix users how often are you finding urself watering. Ive been doing every 3 to 4 days i pour a gallon into my 5 gallon pot. my friend is telling me im letting things get to dry, and that i should be watering every 2 days because im stunting the growth. I dont think i am she looks healthy.
With ProMix you want it to dry down so the pot feels pretty light but water before you start seeing droopy leaves. I've always finished up in around 4gal pots or 5gal pails with about 4gal in them and will be needing watering every 4 days or so. I used to do the water-feed-water-feed kind of cycle but the last few plants was adding half the nutes to each watering so they were getting a steady amount of feed all the time. Not sure if it made any real difference but didn't seem to hurt.

This is why I don't grok the allure of coco that has to fed multiple times per day according to many users and treated with calmag to make sure it gets enough Ca and Mg as it locks that stuff or some other issue. Not to mention it can cost up to 3X what I'm paying for ProMix HP and I can only get it in the big city 2 hours away but HP is all around my area. The only benefit I see is it's maybe more sustainable than peat but when you consider the distance it has to be shipped and the amount of fresh water used to flush it is it really?

I got myself a big bag of Canna coco just to try a side-by-side grow watering and feeding it the same as I do the HP pots. The last time I tried coco it was that cheap brick stuff that I didn't know I should flush first and the plants did horribly in it so I never tried it again and that was 22 years ago. This Canna stuff is all pre-washed and buffered so I'll see how it goes once I have identical clones to use for the experiment. Don't want to grow from seed for this as even seeds from a good stable strain will have variations in how they grow and would skew the results.

Some guys have used the HP for DTW systems and it seems to work OK but I'm not getting into that method. I'm only growing for myself and a few friends I share with so I don't need to hit some production target.

:peace:

So no dish soap for you..lol. Good to know if I go with the premier next time I need medium. Is it the organics in the mix your using requiring the agent? I know dish soap or seaweed agar is used a lot but I don't remember ever using a wetting agent. Just curious.
Peat moss can sometimes repel water and not absorb it evenly. Forgot the word for that. A little wetting agent of some kind helps it hydrate evenly, as I am informed.

I've been using ProMix HP for years :weed:

-it contains no nutrients so you have Total control over the feed
-flushes easily if you need to "reset"
-is ph buffered, no need to adjust water in
-relatively inexpensive, I figure a 5 gallon pail/bag is ~$5

5 gallon pail, GroBuckets, 600w MH/HPS, Mega Crop one part, Six Shooter Auto = 13.85oz

Cheers, eh ?

For me in 5g bags, with decent sized plants I'm feeding either every 3 days, or once I get to mid-flower every other day. Depending on how dry it is, I do 2 or 3 gallons per feed.
