Maybe you have some image in your head about what "compton" is like from rap songs or whatever. I never had any major problems (car got broke into once) and actually met a lot of really cool/interesting people. Sure, it's poor... But so were many other hoods I've lived in.

I felt infinitely more threatened/wary/nervous walking through parts of Hollywood at night.
