What would you do?

No and although it would seem that way it is very very wrong and the extra light radiation is increasing your temps and making you try to cool too much probably.

Thermometer needs to be away from all light which in a reflective tent can be hard. try shading it and placing it at different locations so you can appreciate the effect of light radiation.

This is complex stuff but once done you can be confident in your environment :-)

Ok great, i will try this method, seems logical, moving it around will obv give broader view of temps.

Majority of reading ive done, all wanted canopy temp it seemed

yep, squares are much bigger than i wanted, never really noticed until it was installed tho.

Am seriously thinking ill just take it back out while i can.

first grow, no need to complicate it even more by not being able to take them out , which i have done all through veg.

all those pretty scrog pics got the best of me lol

You can still scrog. You just need smaller mesh netting.

Temps were 81.6 at canopy with exhaust fan running full to cool the hood.

Something I should I thought of more thoroughly is my light schedule.

Currently lights on at 930pm and off at 930am

I should have timed them to run from 6am to 6pm as that would have been much easier with my work schedule.

Live and learn I guess lol
Change your light schedule now if you like. They were just switched to flower it won't hurt them. Next 81.6 is fine at the canopy.

I just want to make you aware of the science of reading air temps. The weather office use a stephenson screen to shade and omit all light to read air temps so it would just be sheer stupidity to stick a thermometer in the canopy where light will alter the temps.

Overall your setup is wrong, why you have to point fans at plants and thermometer.

Its hard for new growers because this involves fundamental scientific principles of which few are talked about in threads leaving you thinking your tents hot because some other grower thinks the best place for a thermometer is directly under a big ass light.

Ignore and follow only the pure science, once grasped most realise they were creating wind tunnels not calm plesant sunny days as what weed likes the best.

Mkre pure science states that light does not heat air much whatsoever, radiation heats surfaces and travels unimoeeded through air not heating it. Ya it feels hot under a light, dont put a thermometer anywhere near.

Welcome to RiU Always glad to discuss :-)

Thanks for sharing that knowledge , appreciate it.

Everything you said makes sense, now that you said it lol

i wasnt thinking like that at all, was basicallly just going off what ive seen/read from other growers, you are correct.

Do you use any fans at all? i thought we needed/wanted air flow above and below canopy, to combat pests and other issues our plants dont like...

Yes. Just extend the night cycle and start the light cycle with the time you want. It won't hurt to do it one time. You just don't want to be changing things every other day, etc...
honestly i was just gonna live with the mistake, but if you guys say its all good one time, i will do this tonight, just keep lights off till the time i want. they will be in darkness for 21 hours by time light comes back on.

My info was simply to move the fans of the plants not remove them and to find a true air temp not add in light radiation.

Small steps but ones that lead you to more advanced stuff and a near perfect grow environment one day.

Ya I understand you were telling me to just move them . That's what I did this morning when lights came back on.

I just wasn't sure if you had your environment so dialed in that the fans weren't required. Or if that was even possible.

Also moved the thermometer away from hood. 78f/ 55 rh

I changed the light schedule , so they just woke up earlier this morning from a 21 hour nap.

I also removed the screen. Not gonna bother installing smaller screen. Just gonna leave them be. Let the Lst do its thing.

Thanks for all the help everyone. There's a whole bunch of you who are gonna be able to take credit for getting these plants to harvest lol.

My tent uses two fans no inline as too loud atm, one at light one in unzipped tent door. Sucks but is enough for my 600eatt hps - fries any unhealthy plants though.

Its warm but fresh and all the air is moving and exchanging. Do not attempt this yet but yer over time and youll see your plants stress less over light and heat.

Yes i could ditch fans with my inline but my inline sucks a lot of air and half implodes my tent so at a few hundred cfm im pretty happy all the air in the tent is moving around pretty well.

It took me time to work up to less wind and extraction and any mistakes costly and still are. At one point i thought i needed fans on plants.

Growing plants easy, getting good hard. I threw away my meters after a few years, most do but can just pop my head in and tell if its hot or not :-)

well thankfully for me, guys like you/xtsho/and others have tried/tested and have the experience and knowledge and are willing to help newbs like me.

theoretically it should help guys like me from making those same mistakes, if we can implement the info and advice properly lol

The SCROG net I got came with two nets. One with smaller squares that you are supposed to use to SCROG and one with wider squares to help support the stems as the buds fatten up later in flower. I am betting you are using the support net and not the actual SCROG.

Scrogs are but one way to skin a gnat, not the quickest or best but got a lot of press when most states brought in four plant limits and such.

I just top and flower no support or training but only run a four week veg, you can scrog or just flip to flower and let them fill out the tent at this point.

:-)

Yep

all those pretty scrog pics got me lol

I did take the net out tho and wont be putting one back this run.

These plants were topped twice and tied down a bunch, should produce a few decent bud sites i hope

this is what the 2 biggest looked like before the flip

The smallest plant of the 4 is node on top of node, she might explode in the coming weeks, that's the Atomic strain from bomb seeds.

Using Lucas formula with floranova bloom

Trying to keep things as simple as possible
