let me know how it comes out sea.... i still cant accept that it produces decent smoke... much less bring myself to do it.... no matter what i read on here.... i'll try it one day, after about 20people i trust tell me its cool; but right now im like "soak em in water? my buds? dont think so....." just goes against everything i was taught.... watching this one though as i trust your opinion on the finished product.... this water cure thing is like a trainwreck for me... even though it hurts to see it, i still click on every thread about it... i guess im waiting for someone to say that it is horrible, but never happens.... learn somethin new everyday...

 I think it makes some sense, and don't see why it wouldn't work as long as the water is kept fresh and the drying process goes as quickly as Green says.
Just my 2 cents Seamaiden, I remember someone saying you should use room temperature water when water curing because the cold water might shock the trichs and break more off. I don't know if it is really true nor can I remember who said it. I am going to be using Brita filtered water from the fridge then warmed to room temp. I just want to be safe. This is my first grow after smoking for almost 20 years off and on.
Have I mentioned that I love this site?
I had not read that, thanks for mentioning it. All that I've been reading seems to indicate that trichomes and cannabinoids suffer from excessive heat, as low as 29C (though the paper I'd cite doesn't come up anymore, don't know what's up with that, shoulda cached it). What I don't want to do is use the water straight out of the tap, not when I've been working so hard to keep these buds as sweet as possible. I do have a PUR filter, needs replacing, and of course the Mr. Clean filter we rigged up. Of course, now, the water out of the tap/hose is gonna be pretty damn cold til next year. Br!

It is a possibility that cold water (would probably have to be very cold) may cause trichs to 'freeze' and snap off, much like the process used with bubble bags when making bubble hash, but it is not proven nor tested by myself or others I know of as to how cold the water actually has to be to cause the trichs to freeze while water curing.
Although room temp water is likely your best bet, I imagine cold water wouldn't cause a lot of harm unless it's bordering on freezing, i.e very cold!

Probably more inportant; don't use hot water, heat degrades THC, much like light, air and a list of other things lol, but just imagine hot water melting your trichomes/THC away :(

when everybody tried it last year it was a major failure. nobody liked how theirs came out. it comes out rock hard, like gravel and all the flavor is washed out. from what i remember. i could be wrong. :leaf:

if it was so special wouldn't everyone do it? that's how i look at things. :bigjoint:

heat activates THC see "decarboxylation". as long as it is below 200 degrees, which i assume most kitchen sinks are, then you are most likely just activating it as opposed to degrading it.

i could be wrong. :bigjoint:

To me it comes down to matter of opinion and preference. It has it's uses. Sure some people don't like it. I still believe everyone interested should try it so they can have an opinion on it. Not fair to say if something is good/bad if you've never tried it for urself.
It often does come out quite hard... Sometimes reminds me or coral lol, but what's that matter? You're just guna smoke it anyway, and you can pack just as much in a cone, I find it kinda has a hardish 'shell' if you will, it's still soft on what would be considered the inside hahaha.

And if you got dirty bud like seamaiden here, it may be ur best solution, and definitely a damn fine time to at least give it a go!

My mistake, haven't looked into with any depth, just one those things you read in all the ol' grow books etc. 'heat = bad' so it must be lodged in the brain somewhere lol.
Does activating the THC still cause it to be lost, or does it remain and deactivate when it cools down?

i never said if it was good or bad, i just said what was reported here. it's all in a thread somewhere. i seem to remember at least 5 or 6 people trying it with the same "opinions".

I tried hosing, gently. Tried using the air compressor (that was more difficult to make it gentle, I don't know how to adjust the pressure). There's TONS of soil coming off these buds still. I will wait and see before I offer up my opinion on the final product. But, the buds were certainly sticky enough to have turned brown for all the soil stuck to them. I am a very determined woman, though, and will not give up until I know it's a truly lost cause. Not after having spent so much time since April on these babies. Besides, it can't be any worse than Mexi-schwag, right? And I used to smoke the hell outta Mexi-schwag (used to drive to my friend's place in Imperial Beach to pick up my ounce-for-$50).

Funny thing, I left the plant's remains out on the back deck, there are a few small leaves left, and damn if she is not only still alive, but looks like I might be able to re-pot her and re-veg her. For this one though, I don't know if I want to try her in a grow room for her hugeness, but I won't have much choice, snow levels are DROPPING, hopefully not down to our elevation because the Jeep needs new snow & mud skins, and I am not as good with the other SUV in the snow.

Just remember, I haven't really smoked for taste, I smoke to get stoned. I've never really paid much attention to it, except to note when it's really harsh. My son (the one who grows), on the other hand, that little son of a bitch is a pot snob, I tell you what!

Sure changed a lot of my ideas.

did you always say that you would be "the cool parent" too?? i did... now im like "bullshit!, a "cool" parent is a bad parent"... amazing how when you have a child your world turns around and starts spinning on a different axis... around you kids.... i even cry during movies now cause i see my kids in so much of what i see... and im "supposed" to be a young, hardass man:roll:... oh well, they'll love me for who i have become and the life i will give them...

Well... First off, I never planned to be a parent, just the opposite in fact. Then, the oldest one took root. I did figure I'd be a "cool mom", and most of the kids say that I am, though I don't know why (I don't burn with kids or anything like that, I've got some weird hang-ups about that stuff). The crying thing, oh MAN! I first saw A Cry in the Dark when my second boy was about the same age as the woman's baby that was eaten by a dingo. I was bawling over those AT&T commercials, "reach out and touch someone."

But, the BIGGEST thing for me had to do with gender roles. I thought that the only reason boys and girls were the way they were was because of how they were brought up. Such is not the case. Boys are often quite naturally very physical and really do tend to want the Tonka trucks more than Barbies, and plenty of girls just gravitate towards all the pretty shiny things. I had to let my boys be what they were, and that meant I had to change MY mindset on the differences between the sexes and the fact that they are very real. That was, by far, the biggest change in how I thought and my perspective. That, plus after I had my own I had to like little kids, I used to detest kids, now I can't get 'em away from me.
