what would cause leaves to curl under?

i don't know what the problem is, they were doing wonderfully until i changed the light cycle to 12/12.

also, it's been a week and a half of 12/12, shouldn't i be able to tell the sex of the plant soon?

what's up with the leaves looking scrawny and curling downwards?

oh i also had a question about watering- should you water the top of the pot as well, or just let it absorb from the bottom up?

the soil on the top is dry, but i don't want to overwater so i've just been letting them suck the water up from the holes in the bottom of their pots.

I kinda call it puckering, taco-shelling, etc. But a typed description is tough

I'm interested. had a couple grows that did this, then it went to something else.. (I'll try to post pics)

..... staying tuned.
