What would a socialist society look like

Im Swedish and I dont get it, haha.
We have this "Social Democracy" thing going on that is pretty much the same as your democratic party. And on the other side we got the more right wing party pretty much like the republicans.

We have contributed to the world with having the best looking girls anyone has ever seen. Could be the home cooking instead of burgers and fries, what do I know? But they are amazing, if someone doesnt agree, fine, we love to keep them here.

On topic, haha, sorry.

A socialist state has a way of starting out good and then turning into soviet after a couple of years, having people standing in line for a week to get toiletpaper and because of this beeing run by the mafia. Thats what it would be like. It doesnt work simply.

Socialism has always gotten a bad rap due to the leaders going rogue. Forced socialism, like Russia, Cuba and any other state run by dictators will never work. The whole notion of socialism is a state run by the people, more like the preamble to the constitution would have us believe, untill the elites took over and made worker slaves out of the middle class and the poor by manipulating the currency.

you really don't get it, do you. socialism has nothing to do with the people running anything, it is all about the state's control of the nation's finances. it is an economic system, not a form of government. what you describe is pure democracy, a dictatorship of the majority, mob rule. it is a system that glorifies mediocrity and demands conformity. it is a system that may be workable in small communities, but breaks down under the pressures of a massive and diverse population. it is a system that requires a common goal among all its constituents and cannot abide the lone wolf or the individualist.

socialism demands the use of force, it is government's only real tool. whether it is the violent force of the police state or the societal force of public opinion directed by the state, some form of coercion must be used to quell the occasional uprisings of those who aren't content with merely what they are allowed to have or to strive for. its failures are the same as those found in pure democracy, the necessity for an homogeneous population and an inability to survive diversity.

Pure democracy is fail. 51% of the country telling the other 49% what to do only works for so long. Eventually, the other 49% fight back.
