What will i need to start my first grow?

im getting a grow tent tommorrow and i just want to know all the equipmet i will need to start off growing. im getting peat moss and perlite and mixing them 50/50 is that ok?
im also gettin a 400w metal halide bulb but will taht be too much or too little light because its only a small grow tent?please answer

What size is the tent? This will help to determine whether its too little of too much light. You'll need a ph meter, fan, nutes. check out the faq..

its a homebox xs its 2x2x3 11" / 60cm x 60cm x 120cm
would 400w be too much? yes i will be getting a ballast aswell

Im not sure you would have the room for a 400w in that cabinet, certainly you would store the ballast outside the cabinet, its just that it will heat up the box pretty quickly if you do not have a cool tube and fan setup.

For small boxes im still growing with CFL's. I have (3) 42 watt bulbs that i grow with.
