What will happen if I..?

Take the two bottom stems that have leaves on them, cut the leaves off like you would for a clone, and then stick them into a medium?

You will have a rooted fan leaf...that's all..No new growth

don't cut the leaves off, they are energy factories for the plant to grow. only cut off leaves if they are dead or have serious problems. if you want to branch it more, top it by cutting off the tip of the growing shoot (but only after at least 3 branch nodes) and it will sprout 2 new shoots (after a few days recovery period). this will usually give 2 larger colas along with longer side branching (depends on strain too). lots of topics about pruning and training techniques, do a search and have fun

so you mean you want to leave the top leaves on and cut off the lower fan leaves and then clone it? thats called cloning my friend.

I guess I don't know the difference between a fan leaf and a branch.

I mean a branch has multiple leaves and has new growth coming off the tip

as to where a fan leaf is just a large leaf usually has its own stem so it grows out away from the plant to maximize light. it won't have any new growth coming out anywhere
