so 2 weeks before harvesting 1 strain of mine decided to hermie. I got this from a "friend", so not sure if he knew it was a hermie cut or what. but im PISSED!!!! anyways, im about 3 days from harvesting. the 2 plants have been removed, but I did touch one nanner and it poofed in the tent :(

what can I use to decontaminate my 5x10x6.5 tent with. someone said just wipe down with water, but im not sure I believe him that a simple wiping with water will make the pollen inert.

thanks everyone.

this will be the last time I ever get clones from "people" I know. fem seeds or fvck off. lol

Feminized beans have a greater ratio of hermi then regular seeds. If I come across a strain I'm unable to hermi I'll let you know, but until them read up on growing. More then likely you have a light-leak or a feeding issue.

If you do your harvest all at once it doesnt matter in the slightest this close to the end. If you have newer flowering ones going in right away soap and water with a bit of bleach like every other cleaning. Unstored pollen has a very short window of viabilty

stow, she is still in veg. she is getting huge. 3.5'+. flipping them as soon as my flower room finishes up and a scrubbing. I forgot to put the tomato cage on her, and she bushed out. not sure if I can put one on now, of if Ill have to put 10 stakes around the pot to support her frail limbs. lol

this was a new strain i got from a friend called bubblegum that hermied. these 2 plants were the only ones out of 12 to hermie. ive thoroughly inspected every other plant and no nanners in the flowers or balls anywhere. I don't have light leaks. if I did, my other 3 harvests would have shown signs. ive ran my other 3 strains for 13 months and no hermies, only on the new strain. my entire grow area is a constant. nothing really changes except my water days. oh, and I added new hoods to my flower room. a month ago.

LordRahl, so a soap/bleach wipe down of the entire room you say? my cleaning will be about 7-9 days after the nanner poofed on me. much appreciated.

i disagree about fems being more likely to hermie then reg seeds.. no matter if it's feminized or regular, it all depends on the parents used to make the strain in question.. if you started with a hermie prone plant, the hermie gene being dominant, will more then likely show in it's off spring, whether regs or fem'ed..
the fem'ing process does nothing to the dna of the plant, so again, so long as the breeder starts with a stable strain, the off spring will be just as stable as the parents.. pretty much, garbage in, garbage out, but that goes for all breeding, whether regular or feminized cannabis seeds, or dogs..

I would do the mild soap/bleach wipe if i had pistills showing on plants going into the tent this week. If there are no plants to go in right now or the ones that are going in are still veging then I wouldn't even bother with that.

And some plants will be very hermie prone as its a HUGE advantage in nature and those plants basically guarantee that they reproduce.

Always be willing to try a new strain no matter how you can get it. You never know when you will find a new favorite from someone else

if the female seed was not treated properly . yes the plant is more prone to herm or not even growing . or just being a shitty or nothing special plant. this is not very common with top seed banks . only ones that are what you call bag seed or some home made bull shit or sold in local green med shops . in the usa . I vote wipe all that off with bleach and soap like a person posted above . or even use glass cleaner for a second wipe.

Raise the humidity by spraying some water if you're still worried but after 7-9 days there's unlikely any viable pollen left.

I use 5-10% bleach to water after each batch on walls and floor just to keep things clean.. I seem to have more problems with pests when I don't...It also kills pollen..

Water in a spitz bottle is good, add some bleah or cleaning solution too, the good news is ....You are so close to harvest 3 days, that it ain't gonna matter ....lucky you!

yeah pollen is killed with water

I thought that it could potentially stay viable for up to and maybe exceeding 1 year ? Asking because i said f it and grew them out for personal use ! Not worth it but it is only 2nd grow EVER. But its a brand new 5x5 and in same room as my 4x4 so i just need to give it a few cleanings and dry time in between rt ?
