What to do when 1 plant takes off

I have six plants. One plant in particular is growing MUCH faster than the others. I have to keep raising the light (air cooled 600 watt HPS) to accomodate this one plant. I have tied the plant to make it bend a bit so I don't have to keep raising the light but for fear of breaking it I don't want to bend it anymore. So as this one plant grows much faster than the others the others are loosing the closeness of the light since I have to keep raising it for this one plant which makes the others grow slower yet. How do you deal with this issue? Thanks.

Put the other ones on books or shelves. Hopefully, they will catch up or maybe the one superstar is going to be male... Also, put that one on the outside. I think HPS is more powerfull in the middle

or you could just "topp" the fast growing plant , this will stunt it for a while , this will however split your main cola depending on the strain and it will need at least 2 weeks veg time after topping to recover, ask if your not familiar with this method (Y) peace .......

Thanks Mrbloomfields. I have 6 girls going, I have them all in bloom. I know what you mean re topping, haven't done it before but read about it. I don't have the space to veg & bloom at the same time so any thoughts on how to deal with that if I topped her?

They are feminized and all 6 are clearly female, about a week into 12/12.

If there getting to tall you can try to try to bend the branches down a bit.

You can still super crop at this stage of flower instead of cutting, I find it's a great way to keep the canopy even without removing any plant material.

I agree with the supercrop. I had to do the same thing because I was growing multiple strains (bad idea). Another thing I've learned helps is a trellis net to even out the canopy. Just keep weaving the tall one under the net to keep it down.

Thanks to you both. Sounds like a good thought, looks REAL scary though. It's the main stem that has gotten too high, I read the supercrop link/pix (rep for sending), seems scary for a novice to do to an otherwise healthy plant. Do you see many go downhill after this? These are fem seeds about a week into 12/12.

I deal with the issue all the time as I grow lots of Indica but like a Sativa for day time. All I do is hang a bungee cord on the plant near the top so it bends. I have 3 sizes, 12", 18" and 24" that covers everything as you can hook them together and only use the black rubber ones truckers use. They have more weight, I just hook one over the top of the plant and see where it hangs, I put a heaver one on if required.

If you brake the stock just splint it and it will grow a knuckle. To splint I use popsicle sticks and tape, not to tight than remove in a week.

The other thing is if you roll the stock between your fingers hard you will break the fibers down enough and than bend it it will stay like that.

i would not supercrop !!!
i would take the 6th plant (the tall 1) and find somewhere you can grow it under a flourecent, anywhere , kitchen cupboard, anywhere, top it to keep it short and use it as a mother for clones, you already no its a supergrower, keep it , clone it , mother it, you wont be sorry, good luck my friend =)

I haven't seen any go downhill so long as the supercrop is done right. It is scary to do but as long as you're not an idiot and kinda squish the stalk rather than snap it you should be good. If this scares you though, tie them down. Simple and effective.

Thanks Mouthmeetsoap. I have now tied them down. I think they like it..... I will have to find another way to water them though since it is going to end up being a spiderweb of tie downs there that will need to be untied in order to move them around so they can be watered!

ive super cropped topped tied down and it works fine all three and i also
have 1 plant thats absalutly took off compare to the others and can u see female bits in the veg
stage cuz i swear i can and are longer veg times good or bad

I'm going through the same thing right now. I've got 12 plants about 4 weeks into veg and 2 of them are massive, probably at least 2 feet tall and a foot and a half wide while others are around 12" or so. I've been trying to come to a solution and I was thinking about just leaving the 10 under light for 24 hours and giving the other 2 only like 16 hours or so in hopes they would slow down while the others caught up. Any thoughts?
