What the? Like Mexiblunt's?

Hey Everyone. Great site. Came across it after stumbling on Mexiblunt's discussion re his Endless Sky plants. I'm also growing Endless Sky and suffering from what sounds like the exact same shait. This is my first grow and at a total loss. Would really like to hear if any of you have ideas. Heres the details:

Hydro
Recirculating drip with fogger, clay pellets
Grown from seed in plugs
600w MH
Started 12/28, going 24 hrs straight
pH has been b/t 5.8 and 6.5, mostly around 6.3
Using FloraNova Grow (was in 200's TDS, gone to 365)
H2O temps vary from 71 to 75
Cab temp around 81 to 85 (canopy around 79 to 81)
Plants now at about 3.5 to 4 inches, w/ about 4 to 5 nodes
Look pretty compact to me
New leaf growth looks really good to me, but as new leaves come out the older leaves start to get faded splotches near the tips, becoming a little lighter green, then turning a little yellow to brownish in color and start to shrivel up and completely dry out (crumbles). This happens out at the tip and moves in towards the stem, but just the bottom leaves. When a new set of leaves grows out and looks good, the next set of leaves down on the bottom does the same shit.
It sounded a lot like what Mexiblunt said about his Endless Sky plants. Wondering if maybe its a f'd up strain? I've looked at all kinds of pics and descriptions of sick plants/leaves, but can't find anything that fits the bill. PLEASE, if anyone has any ideas pass them along. I'm gonna try and post some pics to see if that helps. Thanks much. Also, let mekknow if theres anything i've left out. :peace:

Just a quick update. I flushed the res yesterday and now at 127 ppm, 5.8 pH, 77F res temp, and 81 canopy. Plants still looking like crap. Hoping i'll have some nice girls to show off some day like others on here. Leaves coming in now staartiing look lil diffrent. More slender, less fat and round. First leaves were really kinda big. Always like this?

Should I cut off the leaves that don't look good, or just leave em? Any thoughts anyone? Please, I'm gettin desprate. Thinkin I lost the whole group to something, but don't know what. They sick. Ill see if I can put in some more pics.

hey bwinn27. i did get some on em early on by mistake. also used some foliar spray (spray-n-grow) once while light was on but theyve been dry for a while now. put some hydro perox in last night and today to help with the O2 in the res just in case. i'd post more pics but for some reason can't seem to get the attachment to work right now. take my word for it tho, they look nothing like the nice little girls others have shown on here.

check the back of your leaves in the what looks like white area. look real close and see if you see some "tiny" bugs. i'm wondering if you could have thrips.

nope. fortunately (unfortunately?) no bugs. looking closer at the discoloration theres a brown edge around the lighter colored splotches (for what thats worth)

something else i didn't notice before. you need to get that rez temp. down to below 70. that's a biggie! and try to get that ph in the area of 5.8. how big is your rez?

yeah, the temp is too high. i was trying to use ice cubes but that aint cuttin it. can't afford a chiller right now. freezing some 2L bottles right now. will just have to keep exchanging em when melted.

about pH: i've heard sooooooo many differnt ideas as to what it should be, but since youve grown ES before i'll take ur word for it. you think 5.8 is where it should be, and not 5.7 or 5.9 (too far off target), right?

my rez is 15 gal, but i'm probably a little lower than that to make room for the pots (h20 sits about 4-5 inches below).

ice cubes are no good. it'l change your ph and ppm. the frozen bottles will work well. that's weird you're having temp. issues since it's winter. if your ph was 5.7-5.9 you'd still be good. i sometimes leave it if it's close. if you have less than 5 gallons per plant in your rez, you can really get some ph drift problems. i've seen that problem countless times. when you have x amount of plants sucking nutes out of a rez that's too small, you'll get ph drift every time.

going, going, ....
well, it aint lookin too good. think two plants have bit the dust and dthe others are prolly not far behind. the newer growth is sooooo stunted --- the leaves are really small and pathetic looking. who knows, maybe a couple of the stronger ones will pull thru if i don't still kill em somehow. i spose ill keep trying with these just in case. chalk it up to experience and pray that the next attempt is a little easier. i do appreciate everyones help tho. what a friggin expensive lesson!

update:

pH stable at 5.8
res temp at 65 - 71
cab temp/hum at 74-77/44-52
added micronutes and trimmed of crappy lookin leaves

two plants deader than dead, three looking much happier, but still have a ways to go, and a few others are looking shaky. overall they look a bit better. will have to wait and see in the morning spose. looking like all the advice i got was spot on. will post pics and update soon.

you can always add a small computer fan.. to extract the heat out of there.. one small computer fan helped my res temp from 88 to 62 (no joke..) here is my ghetto setup.. I put the tube so light doesn't get in... or water on the fan.. check it :)

very cool setup blonddie07. not sure that would work for me. think i need to keep the res area fan-free cuz i'm using ultrasonic fogger for the roots. is the fan venting into your cab? raising the humidity?

update. amazing what a little time (and noobiness) can do to your plants. in the span of five hours, 3 of my 4 better plants went totally limp and flopped over. this happnd overnite. couldn't fig it out 'til looked the roots where there was bunch of snot lookin stuff. asked at local hydro shop and said should use SM-90 and 35% h2o2 after cleaning entire system out. said was maybe slight chance of plants coming back, but looks doubtful. shit, they were just startng to come around.

wondering if i should get rid of the ones that flopped over totally, cut them off where the flop over, or just leave em in the hopes that they come around. they've been in new/clean solution for just under 24 hrs and arent really looking like theyre improving. any thoughts?

i think i'm starting to get more patient (and expecting to get a lot less out of this grow) day by day.
