Well I just started some of my 1990's Mexican brick weed seeds. I normally don't soak but because they were so old I soaked them overnight. They were all on the bottom of the shot glass in the morning. I just put them in soil yesterday and they're in small nursery pots in a tray on top of my T5 which makes a great heat mat. They haven't popped yet. What do I do? Should I dig around in the soil to see if they're growing or should I give them a week to pop? It's only been a day but I should probably take a peek at them. Don't you think? :bigjoint:

Have some old mexi red beans from years ago that I have to “ prepare “ before trying to germ.
Biggest issue is trying to see if they are even viable .... so presoak in bottled water ( non chlorinated ) in a cup with either a drop of clonex or rooting powder ( pinch ) ... leave it overnight , then plant in pot . But to even bump my odds , I add a little tiny ass pinch of myco where seed rests , mist it , cover with soil and PRAY ! ........ lol.

Ive done the scuff method a couple of times .... ( old plastic joint tube ) with a small fine sandpaper “ sleeve “ inside and a couple light shakes to scuff the shell and mostly the area where seed halves join. I guess it helps in rehydration of seed .

Bottom line if seeds are stored appropriately , then I should see some taproots. I do find them a little long in germ times initially but
they grow out of it.

Piece of advice ..... pop as many old seeds you can at time .... if you get a male keep it . Pollinate of the fems that may grow.
Pollinate a few under branches and keep fresh new seeds. Then you Wont lose that strain . You can also self a fem and do same thing . Beats hanging on to older seeds . I got 5 Malawi gold seeds sitting in a tube , only downside , they run hella long ( 15 weeks ) but if I don’t hurry up and try to pop them and hopefully KEEP the strain then I fucked up.

I’m sure there are other tricks , but either it works or doesn’t .

I got a bunch of 20+ year old random bag seeds from a friend the other day. Back in the day he used to save seeds from any weed he really liked. We were going through old boxes in his basement and found his old smoke kit that had a small pill bottle filled with seeds and a few small pouches of seeds in an Altoid’s tin. It will be interesting to see what I get from them.

Mexican brick weed is basically made from hemp that's grown out in the wild where lots of males and females grow together. they compress it all together seeds and all. it's probably about 5% THC maximum
what makes you think the Mexican weed is hemp? and grows wild?
I have to disagree. And why would hemp have 5% THC?

Well since this thread has been revived I'll give an update. None of my brick weed seeds germinated. Next time I'll do a soak with some Ga3. If that doesn't work I'll throw in the towel.

Possibly the consistently best weed I ever smoked was Colombian gold. Pure sativa, trippy and no ceiling, dreamy flavor and the smell was unbelievable. A close second or possibly a tie was a single joint of Acapulco Gold but that may not have been truly representative but it was matchstick sized and knocked 6 of us on our asses.
