I looked for Scott's soil in my local gardening place, and they dont have it. What can I use that I could find in my local gardening store?

Also. What size pots should I use to plant the seedlings?

I recommend foxfarm ocean forest for soil and you can use 6'' square or round pots for the entire grow.

Never start a grow with any soil that has nutes already in it, I recommend perlite and peat moss mix 30/70 and only water your sprouts every week once they emerge

Pro Mix is tried and tested, get it and you'll be happy.

Fox Farms is also popular.

Perlite, be careful some companies have started adding fertilizer to it and you don't want that.

I like the MG moisture control for vegging. No nutes needed (actually better not use it) add in perlite. Once its ready for flowering the nutes should be just about used up. Then xplanted into a loamy FF mix for flowering.

People rag the MG a lot. But its a poor craftsman who blames his tools.

I think they rag on Miracle Grow because awhile back they started adding fertilizer to it. People that were having luck with it saw their plants die from too much fertilizer and others never saw any seeds sprout because of the nutes. I believe that to be the story.

I've said this a few times in the past.
MG gets ragged on because a lot of newbies buy it and roll with it. The grow fails and MG is an easier target then blaming themselves.
MG soil needs no nutes for 2 months min. Its high in N, good for vegging.

Adding nutes to a seed(ling) is just a *bad* thing to do. But the time released balls aren't going to keep a bean from popping. I'd say bum seeds.

There are quite a few MG growers here, at all levels. FDD likes the MG MC soil. (or was that Fletch?)

I have yet to have a plant die in the MG soil. Seeds or clones.
I like buying only flowering nutes.

To be honest I had a horrible time with MG moisture control, I found it hold way too much water for way to long. Had a terrible time with drainage and the roots rotted. Anyways, with that said, I live and die by FoxFarm, oh and if you don't want to spend that much MG Organic is a good sub.
