Ok guys, here's the deal. My Critical Jack will be in flower for 9 weeks tomorrow. The calyx haven't swelled to the point that the hairs look to be receding but there is about 5% to about 20%, in some spots, amber trichs. The trichs are about 5% clear, at most, with the rest cloudy. It's a sativa dominant. Will the weight go up drastically when the trichs are turning this much or is it time to harvest?

Would she swell if I put her in to 24 hours of continuous darkness? The hairs are almost all white still with a few amber. Will try to get that pic now. BRB

That's the best I can get with my phone. There are no green leaves left. They're all a light shade of neon green to reddish to yellow. The yellow ones are turning brown and falling off. I can't get a pic of the loupe with my phone because of the lighting but the trichs are changing. The high is good IMO. I don't want to lose any weight if it can swell considerably when the trichs show that it's maturing. Thoughts?

if you see amber trichs i would cut it down within a week. you have a good window with sativa doms.

i noticed that as my plant dried, it continued to mature

I agree, it looks close, give her another week or two.
i also agree with only harvesting the mature flower cluster come 1-2 from now. Leave the immature flower cluster on another week or two.

Here is a few Commercial grower tips my mate(Hes the one that sells) Told me. Do your flush one week before, at around 3 days before shes ready for harvest , Put your hand on the botem stem and Give it abit of a pull shake. DONT rip the thing out, You Just Want to upset her one last time so she (in her last ditch attempt to get some male pollen) Produces More THC (which is used to collect male pollen)

I have tried this method many times.

Ive also heard the darkness one but i don't believe it does anything as U Want the plant to respond by thinking shes going to die without making offspring.
Ive also heard that running Cold Water (Very cold) Over the roots near the end will also let her know that winter could be coming and same thing.

Please note that None of this information is proven (to the best of my knowledge, its just old school methods that tons of growers use.

I tried the 24 hours of darkness before but beware...it can cause botrytis. Happened to me once...however...I do recommend harvesting at the end of the dark cycle. I have always heard that the cannabinoid levels are higher at the end of the dark cycle because the plant rebuilds them in order to protect itself from the sun the following day....I have confirmed this through numerous tests with cannalyse at the end of a few harvests. Another benefit of harvesting right before the lights come back on is that the water is in the roots during the dark period and could cut your dry time by a few days. Not that this answers your question but I think your question has been answered already.
