ok. after dragging my feet I'm about to take the plunge and get going on a stealth grow cab. It's Height 84inx24x18. My first step is to purchase the lighting. I have decided to go with a 400w interchangable light system. Eventually I will purchase a 2nd cab for mother and clones but for now I'm growing hydro in a pc so I will house the mom in there for clones.

Here's where I need help. I need a quiet light. What do you all recommend?

After I get the light I will need help on what is the quietest fans to purchase.

The most important thing is stealth, it will be in my bedroom and I want it to be as quiet as possible.

your off to a great start the switchable light is a good way to go. 400w is good , depending on how many plants , and the size of the pots,
1 gal = 1Ft of growth so they say. I've tried it and it seems right. as far as fans they all make noise computer fans you will need two one for intake and one for exhaust the Exhaust should be a bigger than the intake , Exhaust up hi in box , intake low in box, find a small desk fan osolating type to keep in box , keep air moving around and to move the plants to stimilate growth.

As far as a quite light , its the Ballast that nakes the noise, you can go digital but they are expensive, the ballast sounds like a bug zapper light (buzzz/hummm sound)

looking at your measurements define 84x24x18 I.E. Width , length , Hieght
im assuming 18" wide 24" deep and 84" in Height

Im no Expert but i started in a stealth grow
the good thing about a stealth grow is LOW COST !!!

Yes that is the correct size.

I also know I'm going with a cool tube. I have read these cabs get hot and I want to make sure I buy the correct fans to cool it. I need a fan to cool this and to be quiet.

So would a digtal ballast be better? I don't mind spending more on this operation to make it quality. I have heard digital can have more problem?

I just got a Quantum 600w dimmable MH/HPS ballast in the mail today. Obviously I only have a few hours on it, so I can't comment on the longevity, but I'm pretty impressed so far. It's pretty quiet - sounds like a computer fan - and is cool and light enough to pick up while it's running. It weighs about as much as a textbook.

I like the idea that I could run it on 50 or 75% power if I were to use it for my clones, using the same bulb. I matched it with a Hydrofarm Radiant 6" vented hood and also picked up a Eye Hortilux Super for about $460 total.

pinned, i want to fare warn u. unless ur useing a digital bulb on that beast, u shouldnt b dimming it. i wears down the hours of ur bulb like crazy!

EdIt: also, ive heard a lil clip fan or sumthin on it (if its not equipped with one internaly) helps the life span on it.
