What LED light bulb should be I?

I've seen a lot of hype about LED lights, and they seem like a pretty good idea... except that they're darn expensive. The ones with decent brightness are like 40$ a bulbs, and 150$ for a florescent tube LED. What brand or kind of LED lights should I get that's decently bright yet still at reasonable costs? I'm mainly using it for table lamps, room lighting, and general things around the house.

I bought 2 7.5w Day Light LEDs from Lowes for $15. The purpose was to add additional blue light to my starting seedlings to help with stretch. I have tried it in my very large dimly lit room and was very impressed with it. I have seen ads for $9.99 in quantities of 4. I also have similar watt warm white led, which is nice for mood light, but not reading
