Yeah those are beautiful..theyre native to Madagascar which is where my picks were from too :)
Royal Poinciana! I have a huge one in my yard that I named "Mama Poinciana". I also have 4 of her babies that are nearly 20 feet tall after 5 years from seed. It is one of the world's most beautiful trees. It provides deep shade in the summer and in the spring it has fabulous red/orange/yellow orchid like flowers.

i would have to be a magnolia
M. grandiflora is my all time fav Magnolia. huge flowers, they smell like heaven. big waxy green leaves. the red fruits, called gynoeciums are gorgeous structures with little red skittles popping out in fall. Doesn't grow too much north of here, and even here, in Philly, they need southern exposure, but they're absolutely worth having. Oh I guess i like the big leaved deciduous ones too. the cucumber tree and M. accuminata

Either a Ravenala or a Bismarck Palm..I love tropical treesView attachment 2297531View attachment 2297524
Frowns...I can't grow anything like that here, they are some handsome trees for sure. Very sculptural.

Yeah those are v. cool. I'm a rain so If I could live in the veins of a leaf it would be the magnolia. This woman tried to sell me a tree once, said it was from Africa, but it turned out to be an overgrown nuisance shrub that started sprouting worse than weed's doings.

I think it was Barbra Walters that asked Kate Hepburn in an interview once "if you were a tree what kind would you be"?
Kate said she would like to be an OAK. strong and stable. a symbol of strength. I think i personally think i would like to be a bonsaied cherry. old gnarly bark...the look of death and old age. almost cancer-like. and then once a year push out astoundingly beautiful cherry blossoms. the contrast between the old bark and the new life of the blossoms is a sight to behold. well that's my choice,...what's yours?
Pistachio or Macadamia!
'Course, then I would be a cannibal, since I love to eat them both:sad:

it`s been my very favourite tree since i read `the little prince` as a youngster....

danny it looks like that because it stores water in its trunk -- but you really have to watch this in full screen for the best part:

I would recognize David Attenborough's voice anywhere. I had a friend who did a great vocal impression of him. That has gotta be one of the coolest trees I've ever seen. I'll spend the evening looking up vids like it on youtube. You're an angel. Thanks for the contribution to my plant vocabulary.

spent the evening watching the little prince. i miss gene wilder. and his crazy hair
