I think it was Barbra Walters that asked Kate Hepburn in an interview once "if you were a tree what kind would you be"?
Kate said she would like to be an OAK. strong and stable. a symbol of strength. I think i personally think i would like to be a bonsaied cherry. old gnarly bark...the look of death and old age. almost cancer-like. and then once a year push out astoundingly beautiful cherry blossoms. the contrast between the old bark and the new life of the blossoms is a sight to behold. well that's my choice,...what's yours?

Royal Poinciana! I have a huge one in my yard that I named "Mama Poinciana". I also have 4 of her babies that are nearly 20 feet tall after 5 years from seed. It is one of the world's most beautiful trees. It provides deep shade in the summer and in the spring it has fabulous red/orange/yellow orchid like flowers.

me too but only the yellow flesh ones. wish the season of bloom was longer though cuz i can't get enough. they're like a drug.

u gotta be f'in kiddin me right? there are yellow flesh peaches which are better than sex and white flesh ones which i think are just ok. georgia peaches are yellow flesh. NJ peaches too. they are yellowish and reddish on the outside. i'm sure you've had em you prolly just dont know it. sooo sweet. omg. i need one right NOW..lolz

Ok yeah georgias are what the stores around here usually have. Guess I slam em down so fast I just never noticed the flesh color Lmao.

Yeah me too. Gonna go pick some up now. There's a farm here that sells em super cheap. Little bit of a drive but well worth it. Also gonna pick up a bunch of apple's for brandy.

Ever had a donut or saturn peach, they r kool, its both yellow and white and they r flat almost like a Fuyu persimmon. But my fav r white nectarines, there is this organic grower here in Socal that I used to buy peaches and nectarines from called FitzGerald farms, he has some of the best organic stone fruit at the Wednesday Santa Monica Farmers Market. My family farm also has a booth there selling Korean Breakfast melon, apricots, asian pear apple, grapes too but sun-maid get most all of em.

Ohh and I'd wanna be an Avocado tree, cause they're the shit.

yum. now i'm hungry. i love me some apricots. dried ones. asian pears are the most sexual fruit i've ever seen.

Asian pear r really good when eaten cold, also there is another chinese pear called a Yali, I think its chinese at least but very similar texture and flavor as a asian pear

looks a lot like an eastern red cedar. juniperus virginiana. jap maples are some of the most beautiful things to look at in both their form and fall color. the cut leaved ones are great landscape plants. they make excellent bonsai. costly to buy. round here the deer eat the new growth. i put up a sign..."no eating the maples" but the damed things ate that too.

why you're right. It only grew 5 feet over the decade and a half of having it. I didn't do anything cosmetically to the tree. Although, some punks crash 'round my house because the resinous murals on my wall, hate to think someone's around with scissorhands. I tried a Japanese Maple and it died.

Another great tree to be would be a live oak.

love em. all of em except red oaks here in my area. i discourage anyone to plant them because of the diseases they will eventually get. did you know they use juniper berries to make gin? crush one and smell it. it smells just like gin.
