I would try to stay clear of synthetic crap. Try to work with the soil, rather than against it.
Water crystals help maintain moisture when its drier. Mycos and other beneficial bacteria help feed the plants and reduce water needs. Oyster flour or gypsum make for good source of calcium. As does ground up egg shells.
Silica is definitely worth adding to the mix. Not only does it strengthen branches. It also adds to the plants defense against bugs and microbial pests. And helps to bulk up the paths that feed them.
Coffee grounds add nitrogen. Banana skins add potassium....
There's heaps you could add. But the organic stuff is the best imo. No fake shit. Just the good shit.
