I hate English dubs. :cuss:
Hey now. I work on some of the shows posted here. English dubs aren't that easy to get right. There are many rewrites as translation doesn't go well sometimes and also in the states we are too conservative compared to the Japanese and the english dubs suffer in that regard too. We have to paint out blood and boobies a lot.

Bleach cracks me up sometimes. Boobie buckets. LOL.

I have no real favorite anime. Marvel anime is what I watch the most if I do watch at all.

I never could get into anime. The art style annoys me, the big eyes, spiky hair etc, there is little variance at all. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but the way they talk and what they do just seems weird and fruity. I just don't get it. It just seems that liking japanesey stuff is just the cool thing to do right now.

No offense meant to those that enjoy it, it's just not my cup of tea

I lived in Japan during the best anime years '80-84 -the robot anime years. I had my anime untranslated with all original vocal intensity intact. Came to the states in '84 and what the fuck was popular here? GI Joe, Transformers, go go gadget and later robotech bullshit! GO"BOTS" "ROBO"tech! What the fuck! My childhood was truncated after arriving back to the states.

Naruto and Bleach. I read the manga and watch the new episodes every week. I love anime. I really am a pothead! That new one that they just started playing a couple of weeks ago on Adult Swim called Deadman Wonderland is pretty good and new. I actually watch most new ones with english subs before they ever get dubbed in english.
At first I thought Deadman Wonderland was going to be really stupid, when I started watching part way through episode 2. I watched anyway, because I like to give things a chance, and what do you know, I like it so far. I just hope that it keeps on being as good as I think it has been so far.

For sure. Watching the Japanese subbed versions or Bleach vs. the English dubbed version is a decent bit different. I really wish we in America were a lot more lenient toward certain things. It doesn't even make the least bit of sense what we allow and what we don't.

To each their own my friend, to each their own. I really do respect the fact that even though you aren't into it, you just stick to saying that, and don't start randomly talking shit for no reason.

It's kind of sad how dated and mediocre most of the stuff being mentioned is. Though a few credits To the person that mentioned cowboy bebop and the count of monte christo.

Im surprised none of you mentioned ghiblis films while we are talking mainstream anime. nausicaa of the valley of the wind is worth going over if you like manga or anime.

In fact how about this. You folks let me know what you want in a anime/manga series and I'll throw out some great recommendations. Be it violence, plot, humor etc I've covered them all.

A new one that I like is Nickelodeon's Avatar: Legend of Korra series. I like the old Avatar: The Last Airbender too. Some really good storyline for an American anime. It's a pretty long series too.
