Hey everyone. I am having some problems with my plants and I was hoping you guys could help me out. Keep in mind that at this point in their life, I water my plants with clean water so no nutes yet, and I use scotts' premium potting soil, in case that might help. Any other questions about my setup that you may have, dont be afraid to ask. Thanks in advance

Plant #1- "Danny"

Aight I have been keeping a close eye on Danny lately. He grew astoundishly fast. He is only like 6 days old. Now I have noticed that the cotyledons are turning yellow from the tip. Some people say this is normal but I am not too sure. One of the cotyledons has a weird spot on the top of the leaf. You can kinda see it in the first picture. If you need more detailed ones, let me know. Any idea whats good with this one?

Plant #2- "Hope"

Aight, Hope is my first seedling that I had. It well past its 2 weeks since sprout. Which makes me concerned because I think it should be wayyyyyy bigger. However I have noticed that while the grow is stunted it is still growing a little bit every day. Any idea what might be wrong with her? I also noticed today that the second leaf set (had to remove the first because they were yellowing too and I didnt want it to possibly spread to the rest of the plant) seems to be curling down. Most people say this is overwatering but I just watered her yesterday and she was bone dry so I am not too sure on that one either.

What do you have for lighting? I would add some perlite to your medium. That looks like a pretty big pot for that small a plant. Be careful watering. It's very easy to overwater in such a large bucket. Do you have any fans blowing on them? And does your potting soil already have some nutes in it?

I have 2x 30W cfl's and a 14W. I have been trying to look for perlite but where I live I cant find it for shit. Its as rare as regs are xD
As for the pots, they are 4" pots. They were the smallest ones they had at Home Depot. No, I do not have fans blowing on the yet. Due to my very tight budget I havnt been able to cop the fans yet. And yes my soil does have nutes in it but they are very trace amounts.

it could be a number of things goin on at onces to hows the temps and what kinda lighting
I use CFL lighting. I got 2x 30W lights and a 14W. Once the plants get a bit bigger imma slide the 68W in there with the 30s. As for the temps, they around 27-30c when the lights are on. When theyre off it does down to like 23, maybe more.

When I got that look, it was underfeeding, especially nitrogen. I'd give them mild (less than 200 ppm total!) N, K and Mg ... cn

Thanks for all your advice gentlemen. I bought some of that blue dust fertilizer its really high in N its 30% so what I did was put like 1/8 of that little blue spoon it brought in a whole gallon of water. I will water them with that next watering day and post results in the following week. I dont know though the scotts soil has NPK and it says it feeds plants up to 4 months. The oldest seedling is 22 days old today. Could the soil be out of nutes already?

Yes, indirectly: urea. Six-cubed, do this once only ... cn

<edit> oh crap. Timed-release nutes. You will learn that they release in two modes only:
quick enough to kill
slow enough to kill

Your soil, to much acid ~ Tis simple, get some coca soil, vermiculite and worm castings, you will never have a soil issue ;)

I am on a basically non-existant budget, bro. The nearest hydro store carries happy frog soil, so I am trying to save up to get a bag. I heard its pretty good.

I liked it and had a good grow in it. It did run out of nutrition all at once. I then used the General Hydroponics with continued good results. cn

How long would you say the nutes last? Since I am on a budget I am trying to get everything I need before I order premium seeds. Right now im working with bagseed.

PFFTTT thats on point. I thought it would be way less. One more question. Do you suggest liquid nutes, or those powder ones you dissolve in water? Thats the one I have the powder one, but if the liquid ones are better I will put them on my to-get list.

I have been up all night reading. Is it possible that my babies are rootbound? I can see a few root tips if I look at teh drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Not many of them and theyre still not sticking out of the drainage holes, but I can see them clearly. I have 1 gallon pots ready to go if this is the case so please if someone could give me an opinion. The plants are in 4" pots right now.

UPDATE: I transplanted Danny into a 1 gallon pot. This is to see if rootbounding is the problem. I transplanted the youngest seedling because he is the healthiest looking one. If I see signs of improvement, I will transplant Hope. If nothing happens within this week, I will proceed to feed them with veg nutes. If that doesnt work, be on the lookout for my latest plant problem thread xD Thanks to all those who helped out. I will post updates by mid-week and tell yall how the babes are doing.
