What is this for and how do I use it? (Conductivity Standard)

Hello,

I am researching all my products while my seeds germinate. I have a bottle of Conductivity Standard by Growth Technology and it has very few instructions. I don't even know if this is to go into the reservoir or if it's simply to calibrate my meter?

I understand the concept of EC to an extent and read an excellent post on working out the formula for the correct amount of solution by checking the EC of my tap water first but I am still confused as to what and how to use this product. Advice from experienced people would be greatly appreciated!
