I was walking to my grow patch and seen sum pink ribbons tied to little trees. I also seen sum orange ribbons at another spot I was thinking of growing at. The woods I grow in isn't small at all and it has a large stream going threw it. What are these plastic strips tied to trees for and who put them there?

how long has it been since you were there? Some hunters use those flags to help themselves find their hunting spot when they go early in the morning.

Thanks for the replies! Its been there for a couple of weeks. It won't be hunting season for a couple of months. I was walking in the woods(another set far away from mine) this morning and saw some more ribbons. This was a small valley next to some apartments, some of them on wooden stakes drove in the ground.

Being in construction myself, I can gaurentee you you have just lost your growing area, being a hunter too i know that I personally tie ribbon to trees to mark where I go in and out for deer season during the dark, but lets face it, hunting season, around here atleast, is over. And judging by the fact that you noted that there are "stakes with ribbons" that only means one thing, they are tearing down those trees that are "ribboned" and the stakes were for elavaton measurements. Long and short, there will be a parking lot there in a year wth a strip mall. Bummer yea I know, time to start growing indoors. :)

It might be hunters, but I havnt seen any deer stand. I just bought sum hunting cameras( the ones u put on trees) I plan on camping in a little tent there for this weekend.

The feds are marking off cut zones. You don't want to plant there people are walking around surveying.

you know thats is quite the case if you live in northern cali near my friends next to a famous county. they have feds and rangers on point all over on one of my last camping trips they followed our trail into the woods from the truck off the road and oops... call it an unpleasent surprise when we on our way back down the hill, follow it up w/ a free 2 night stay.

Hubby worked in the woods for several years. He knew those people who tied ribbons around trees. Just how they marked what they were going to cut and what was off bounds.
