If you don't have a moisture meter like me what I do is stick my finger down into the soil a little, if it's dry-ish I water. I use nutes every other watering so as not to burn my plants. I started feeding mine a little early, like two weeks in, but they took to it quite well. I gave like 1/4 dose first then a little more then a little more and so on until full strength. I plan on using Veg fert into the 2nd week of flowering, slowly introducing the bloom fert after the first week. Basically meaning use full veg fert first week of flowering then use like 1/3 bloom fert 2/3 veg fert, then 2/3 bloom and 1/3 veg then full bloom. Understand? I hope this helps you out. As you see I'm not trying to tell you what is 100% definitelty the best way just what I'm doing. Good luck.

There are many threads within this forum that has answered those very questions.
"google your question man! "

If you guys are going to take the time to type something why not try to type some helpful info? I just don't understand the logic of treating people like children. If they are new here and are trying to get some answers scolding them like infants isn't gonna help them learn. It's gonna make them feel like RIU sucks, when in fact there IS a ton of great info here. Give him a little time and let him get a chance to learn how to use the website properly until then if you're not gonna actually help anyone you should try to keep the negativity to yourself.

Water it. Pick the pot up and get an idea of how heavy it is. Don't water again until it's half the weight.

Or just water when your plants look like they need water. When they have plenty the leaves will stand on end almost upright, with the less water the more relaxed they look. You just don't want to let them get wilted.

This can also depend on the medium you are using.

If you use something like coco coir then you need to make sure you have about 20% runoff during watering.
This helps to flush out any excess built up salts.

Oh and remember this thread that you're reading is in the Newbie Central area not Advanced Marijuana Cultivation. Why don't you go spew your bullshit over there and see where it gets you.

Well commented . Everyone starts somewhere , as for testing your soil moisture , just stick a support stick into your soil and leave it there and every other day just lift it out a few inches and you ill see if the stick is getting dry 2-3 inches from top of soil then you know its time for a watering

No worries bro. I just don't understand the pompous attitude that these fools get just because they've grown before. Keep working hard and it'll all pay off, Good luck.

got nothing on Mkmk, he didn't do anything wrong plus watering is sometimes a challenge and if he's a noob he can loose his first grow from a simple thing like watering. What most growers say is that noobs always always seem to over water and kill them sooo chill out people

big ups to mkmk every thing he said is true basically if your gonna be dick to a noob then u proly dont know what your talking about an if you wanna know when to water is when the top of the soil is dry put your finger about half inch if its dry water it. and if you dont wanna over water it get a 12oz water bottle poke a hole in the cap an water it like that every 2-3 days or when the top is dry and you'll be fine

Problem is that your question is to vague to get a complete or proper answer, when you don't ask the right question you are likely to get a whole bunch of wrong answers

for example, if someone were to ask this question

I am using MG moisture control soil, my plant is 3 weeks old and is about 7 inches tall how should I be watering it?

the answer would be completely different from this question

I have 3 plants growing in CoCo under a 400 watt MH light they seem to dry out pretty fast what is the best way to water them?

For all you new growers looking to learn,,,it is very important to ask your question in a way that "allows" folks to answer it

the more info you provide will get you a more detailed correct answer

Me, I flush every time I water, my way is different so I could have easily come in here and simply typed FLUSHING is the best way to water (you can read my way in the Calling All Noob Growers link in my sig)

But I also could have typed USE WATER and that would have been a correct answer to your question

Hope you see what I'm trying to tell you
