I think it would be worth trying. I am not sure the added bubblers will do much to improve aeration given you are in soil, but they would not hurt anything.
I used a wicking system in some large dirt bays this past year and I do agree there could be issues with keeping the bottom layers too wet. I just don't know for sure.
What I saw were bottom leaves that had a slightly under-oxygenated look to them. The upper 2/3rd of fan leaves were perfectly healthy and flat. I did not have to do much top watering for weeks on end so it has advantages for growers that can't water frequently.
So try it and see what happens. If you are running clones, run one pot without the bubblers and see if you see a difference. Good luck, have fun.
