Insecticidal soap or neem. I've used both for spider mites and they worked good. Don't use neem on flowering plants though. I used soap on flowering plants before without problems.
spread salt in a circle around the plant, all the slug-like animals (the ones that are 99% water) will not pass that circle, or will pass on it and dry out and die.
Look up using neem oil products during vegetation as a preventative (and is ecologically sound). Also check out commercial surfactants to directly treat insects (or you can mix your own using a small amount of dish soap) like explained here (also ecologically sound). For flowering stage, caterpillars are usually enemy number one but BT (<-link) is effective and can be used without much if any effect on the buds (also ecologically sound). All is readily available at gardening centers.
I used AZamax on my plant.. it workedlike a charm its %100 organic and it kills all pest ranging from spider mites to slugs..bugs wer gone within the week!..they say you can even spray it on your buds without tasting it, i know i didnt
