What is the average time it takes pistils to appear after starting 12/12?

loool ive grown loads n still get that funny feeling waiting....about 2 weeks till you see micro buds, then youll get disappointed because they dont look like there growing fast enough, then suddenly youll stick your head in one day and BOOM big buds everywere!!
please look up the gas lantern light routine, i grew 12/12 for years, i promise you this is a better method with better results!

depends .. sometimes 2-4 days.. some 5-10 days ... all depends on the plant and when she decides to show

Depends, really. If your plant has vegged for 35-40+ days, its probably matured and will show bud sites more quickly than an immature plant. I was surprised the other day, my Rokerij Amnesia Haze -- which I left vegging longer than I wanted -- showed heads on day six of 12/12. She's still stretching though.

My plants are mature before going into flower so they show pistils pretty much within the first 3-5 days.

Yeah I know, I topped and super-cropped in veg but she is still going to have to be tied down here soon. A little gentle LST should work. She's been 14 days and I can see the stretch slowing.

if you had followed the gas lantern light system in veg
12 hours on 5.5 off 1 on and 5.5 of again
you would have seen pistils much sooner!!

For surrre, appreciate it. I vegged 43 days on Tahoe Og and I seen about six pistils one top(4days into flower) on the mother that will be reverted to veg.
So anxiousss for them bobble top colas hahaha

basically it is used in commercial growing were they invest £££ every year to get a 0.1% better yeild then last year.
the point of this method is that because of the hour break in the middle of the dark cycle the powerful plant hormones that build when your girls sleep (the ones that make her flower) are disrupted and therefore she WILL NOT flower, instead you will see pistils at every node as she begs you to throw her into flower, but she WILL NOT flower.
when you do flower her, you give her 24 hours darkness (letting her know change is comming, then you

12/12 for 2 weeks
then 11 on and 13 off for 2 weeks
then 10.5 on and 13,5 off for two weeks
then 10 on 14 off for two weeks
then 9.5 on and 14.5 off for 1 week
and 9 hours on and 15 off for the final week.
this is to simulate the time lost as the summer ends and the winter moves in, in an indoor garden you are trying to replicate the outside environment, so you MUST replicate a proper summer for veg and a proper winter for flower.
i know it seems hard to go against what george cervantes told everyone in his books, and indeed what alot off growers on here think! you must look at other plants that are growing. it seems the world of weed has just become another cash cow!

I just looked back...I typically veg 35-50 days, i let this plant go 77 days! I just didn't have space in my flower tent, took too many clones of two other plants.

The first place to look is also the most obvious resource, the nurturing arms of nature. No were in nature will you find an 18 hour day of CONSTANT light. At best a summers day at its longest will see 16 hours of sunlight, however even when the sun is at its strongest in these climates there will always be shadows from clouds and other trees buildings n all sorts so simply put,
PLANTS IN NATURE DO NOT RECEIVE DIRECT SUNLIGHT CONSTANTLY ALL DAY.
As we are trying to replicate the outside inside, the direct and aggressive application of light for longer then necessary will cause a plant more stress, and degrade a PLANTS genetic strength.
you must have seen your plants pointing to the light like little cups when you turn your lights on and by the end of the day they are just normal, this is because they have had enough, and like a baby need there sleep to grow.
The gas lantern system. A stark fear among many growers is that if there weed plant has too much lights off time in veg, that it will begin to flower, . Before this stage is wanted.
Those who are in the know about the gas lantern system have found that in an ARTIFICIAL ENVIRONMENT weed plants need only 13 hours of light for veg growth.
A statement like that , if true, (which it is) should be an exciting prospect purely for the electric savings and helping to combat other groom issues such as heat. This however goes against they way many growers have been taught by other noon online growers ( not professional horticulturelists
The idea is that the veg phase is broken into 4 parts 12 hours light, 5.5 dark a single hour of light then another 5.5 of dark.
The theory is that weed plant gets ample light alongside plenty off dark time to rest ( think babies eat n sleep reapeated over and over in one day) and work on root growth, stems and overall structure ( things it struggles to do when lights are on)
Due to the single hour off light placed centrally between the two dark periods the plant is tricked and neither flowers or Hermosa due to the light reducing what would have been a strong build up of floral hormones.
In practice the actual growth of the plant isn't stunted as one may fear instead it is accelerated as are all aspects of the plants life.
In the real world of horticulture were they spend millions in research just to get a 0.1% increase on yield it is believed that this system reduces veg Times by up to two weeks. Root systems build faster and stronger and stems and branches are stronger and thicker. With huge electric savings and increase in plant growth it really is an all round winner.
In flower it gets Better
The cycle continues to mirror nature, as the days get shorter and light diminishes, but plants are now super charged with floral hormones (you can see this is true as you should see pre sex pistols all over your girl) and are begging to be flowered
The one hour that's been disrupting there dark period has been destroying just enough of the natural floral hormones to prevent flowering whilst the rest periods has given them enough strength and zeal to finish her life
Instead of keeping plants at 12/12 which is actually the very border of were plants will flower the lights are flipped to 11 on and 13 off after a 24 hour dark day. The extra dark hour lets your girls know that it's definitely the right time to flower. The rest of the schedule is diminishing in half hour time changes mimicking the gradual reduction of sunlight we find on the planet's hillsides.
2 weeks at 11/13
2 weeks at 10,5/13,5
2 weeks at 10/14
1 weeks at 9,5/14,5
1 weeks at 9/15. Or until end of plants life.
The diiminishing light triggers accelerated hormonal responses in the weed plant causing it to flower with more vigor and vitality this continues through the plants life with the final week or weeks being spent in 15 hours dark. THIS FINAL PHASE I PROMISE WILL SEE RESULTS NOT SEEN USING MORE COMMON TECHNIQUES.
Understanding your plants is the best way to learn to grow them and this is an age old HISTORICAL technique. Considering the cost of the lights we run in terms of replacement bulbs (norm every 3rd grow) and electricity we use can all take a massive cut with this technique, this with bigger better stronger plants and bigger yields means you can see this is a real winner. We all grow to grow a good product, using the gas lantern routine you'll grow your best plants yet!!
Considering the recent boom in weed growing since 2000 and it becoming a bit of a normal thing in the world, it is slowly turning into a massive cash cow,(anyone bought a dwc bucket for $50 recently??? You don't see the electric companies complaining.
Look at pro growers not just in the world of weed but in other areas to, you will see current weed growing trends, done to death years ago take dwc soon the floating raft system will take hold but lettuce growers have been using it for years!!
If you take nothing else from this just remember the fact that something bears fruit, it does not always authenticate the methods used and certainly doesn't prove that there isn't a more effective way!!!!!!

So plants never get 12/12 in the natural world; yet they get 5.5hrs of light, 1hr of darkness, and 5.5 more hours of light? 12/12 isn't the border, by the way. I've had plants flower under a good bit more than 12 hours of light. I don't see how the logic of applying nature is realistic here.
