Im using cxb2070's 3500K x 4 in a 2 ft square area.
Just wondering would it be equivlent to say 300watt hps or whatever?
400 watt hps seem much brighter and with more penetration though holes in my tent.
But ive been getting some pretty good veg growth out of the cobs. even too much for seedlings.

There is really no way to tell equivalent..But I would guess 300 cob watts is worth about 450 hps watts..
My 450 cob watt light is equivalent to about 650+ hps watts.. So 200 watts is about 300 hps watts.. Depends on a lot of variables...

The performance of LED grow lights can vary by a huge amount. There are cheap LED lamps on the market as low as 20-25% efficient, quality commercial COB lights are 45-50% efficient, some DIY builds are 70% efficient.

In my opinion the performance of a typical 400W HPS is equivalent to a high quality 200W commercial COB. 400W HPS are significantly lower efficiency than 1000W DE HPS so we have to take that into account.

what he ^^^^^^^^^^^ said, nice to see you back Sup!..........70% efficiency is a stretch at system level, paper/data may say so, reality is otherwise. very soft driven qb's could break 60,maybe

kind, mars, etc are lucky to hit the 25% in a sphere:).....more like teens

vert bare bulb 600w hps can run at 1000w de hps efficacy for cheap

Hey psu how have you been? Paper/data days 75%+ I docked 5% for the uncertainty factor lol. Maybe I should dock another 5% for over optimism factor but I have yet to cough up the funds to have any tested in calibrated integrating sphere. I do have a lab not far away so I really have no excuses. @CobKits data has me convinced I need to test the CXM22 gen 3 against the CXB3590 3500K DB.

haha..............I'm fine friend, just real busy this time of year, same shit . Nothing wrong with being optimistic, thermal management is the biggest hurdle with these cob packages. Would love to see someone verify 70% system eff. we are some ways out from that imo, lab time is not cheap. wish you luck

cobby's bare chip data is nice, but I'm an"all in" type guy...lol

HLG did a great job on their mcpcb for the qb
