What height to begin flowering?

My plants are "designed" to be @ 30 inches tall at maturity. Not dwarfs. My height limit is about 4 ft. What height is good to begin flowering so as to not exceed my height limit? I also want to know if the heights quoted by a seed bank are accurate?

ehh.. i wouldn't bet the farm on those quoted hieghts.. but usually, most mj plants like to atleast double or possibly even triple in size from the time they are put into flower.. more indica or indica dom strains tend to stretch less, and the sativa and sativa dom strains tend to stretch more ..
hope that helps you some..

I believe these are A cross , mostly Indica called Medijauna. These are sprouts now but in 4-5 weeks want to flower. Thanks for info. was skeptical of those quoted heights because they all seemed small. The tallest was like 5 ft. Any further?

I'd switch 'em to 12/12 before they get to 18", and even then, it'll be tough keeping 'em under 30". More like 12", if you wanna play it safe. Also, take it easy on the nitrogen, and they won't stretch quite a much, during the stretching phase. That's tricky too, 'cause if you don't give 'em enough, they'll yellow early. It's a fine line.....lol

^Definitely. On my very last run, I made that mistake and they stretched like crazy, much more than usual. I'd say they stretched twice as much as usual, and were very thin and flimsy, with branches bending downwards. It was a huge pain in the ass when the buds started filling out, because I couldn't find enough places to tie up all the flimsy branches.lol I won't make that mistake again.

Killed the yield too, because the plants were putting too much energy into growing foliage, rather than budding. Personally, I'd rather have them go yellow early, than have too much nitrogen. I've seen the difference, and the yield was much better when they yellowed early.

^Thanks man. The rep wasn't necessary, although appreciated. I'm just happy knowing that some of what I say, is actually helpful to people. :)

I like mine to start yellowing at about 70% into flowering, and then by the time they finish, quite a bit of the chlorophyll is used up. Makes for a less grassy taste, for those who are too impatient to wait for proper curing(like me, usually.lol).Takes a few grows to get your plants 'dialed in' to where you want to be, but, that's the fun part, right?lol

Yeah, 18" is a good target...unless you completely stop feeding them nitrogen, they'll continue to grow...I've mistakenly continued to give my plants N well into the flowering stage and those plants almost outgrew their closet...had to keep lowering their shelf LOL...

Good luck!

all depoends on room hight and what light is used to get the flowering hight. under a 400 id go at about 8 to 10 inch. 600 about 12 to 15 and 1k about 16 or so...a 400 light only is good up to 198 inches of good light,. then every inch it drops the lumens by 50%...so not much light there at 20 inches. fuigure it will average double in hight at 12/12
