What happened to optic lighting?

That $1000 500 Watt Vero 29 light (recently disappeared from their website) they claimed does a 4 x 4 area at 16" from canopy.. I bought that. I think each COB is getting 125 watts x 4 COBs... with the included lenses tho, I can see that the claim that the light covers a 4 x 4 has gotta refer to VEG.. however it will do a 3 x 3 footprint in flower just fine.

I'm now running it at exactly 16" from a very even canopy and in bloom.. at day 25. The next month will be really interesting.

when I first got the lght and tried to run it at 16" distance from the canopy.. I was noticing some ill effects on the tops of the younger plants.. but now I am thinking that perhaps I might have been wrong.. could have been a problem with my medium, and how I was feeding them, as I was experimenting with coco.. I ended up transplanting back into soil and backing the light off a few inches and the plants recovered and looked fine shortly thereafter. Now I am trying the 16" distance again.It's been a few days like this and the plants don't seem to mind one bit. They seem to be liking it.

They.. Optic Lighting... said it outperforms a 1000 watt HID ballast... well I got one of those too... not even a few feet away from it.

It'll be interesting to see how the performance of one vs the other is.. I can't wait to compare results.

Can't wait to get more COBs tho...

I wanna get 8 more and run a mix of 3500k and 4000k.. the 4 COBs in the Optic Light I have now are 125w at 4000k,,, but it literally sits right next to a Magnum XXXL sized hood with 1000 watt Ushio HPS lamp.

all I know for sure..is that this harvest in December is going to be fucking epic

buying the Optic Grow light was a good way to dive into the COB technology and educate myself on the way it works as well as get some good hands on experience with LED horticulture in general.

I would have never boght this thing or even consider COB/LED if it wasn't for the LED threads on here and more specifically..SupraSPLs informative posts. a few months ago I would have said.. "WTF is a COB?"or laughed if someone asked me to consider buying an LED light.

No they denied receiving it and told me I sent it to the wrong place, FedEx docs prove other wise. Employees at that address signed and received it.
