STEALTH BUILD

I've got a 40cmx40cm wide and 60cm high box which I will be using for my grow.

Here's the basics on my list of things to buy
- Seed(s)
- 3 socket power strip
- 3 light bulb to socket adaptors
- 3 CFL bulbs
- 1 pc power supply
- intake fan
- exhaust fan
- Mylar reflective sheet (for the door, floor, roof and all sides) ... of course inside the box, out outside.
- Pot
- Compost???

Does this look like a good list to begin with?

Anything I'm missing?

Is using soil/compost better in this situation than alternatives?

What kind of bulbs do I need?

I'm thinking about growing THIS incase that changes anything

A carbon filter if you want stealth. Smell is quite obvious. But I'd go with fluoros so you can get the lights really close without burning them because 60cm isn't that high. You'd also have to flower at like 6-7 inches max with a pure indica. It might be possible with that height. But I think something a bit taller would be better. Thats like 2ft.

Hmm, I thought CFL's stood for Compact florescent lighting? How would that be different to a "fluoro"?

When you said something a bit taller, did you mean the grow box or the plant?

Scrapping the idea of a PC power supply, have a 12v DC charger which is rated at 500mA... one problem though, three fans add up to 540mA, would this still be ok to use with this?

He means the grow box.

The thing is you are going to need around an 11litre (3gallon) plant pot or bigger for 1 plant. These are usually around 12inches tall. So there goes 30cm of your height already before you even have a plant in the pot.
Then you have to get your lights in there on some kind of Rig which will probably take another 6inches of height and bam your down to trying to keep your plant at 6inches tall.

You see where this is coming from?

2ft is not really enough height AT ALL!

Sorry i meant t5 fluoros

And yeah as jondamon says pots are big space grabbers(totally didn't think of that when I first replied, stoned) Though I disagree he needs a 3 gal if hes aiming for such a small plant. If im not mistaken people in soil SOG grows use smaller pots.

Maybe an external res. and have a mini table in there? and you can flood and drain.

I think you should focus more on a bigger box. Some people hollow out big tall speakers. I'm sure youll find some cheap or even free on craigslist. Thats like 3ft. And with another foot I think you could do it in soil.

Another idea is a dresser you could hollow out.

I see what you mean, the growbox is just a set of old bedside draws like this http://www.furniturenation.co.uk/hand-made-pine-furniture/hand-made-pine-furniture-images/solid-pine-furniture-bedroom-furniture-cotswold-3-drawer-bedside.jpg ... I don't really have any other option... I would LOVE to make my own box, but it needs to be concealable because of the people I live with.

I was thinking of using LST which should bring the size down a bit and will be topping if necessary.

12 inch pot? Really? what about one of those large square ones, if it was wider, but shorter, the roots could spread out to get the same effect?

the lights I was going to choose originally wouldn't take up 6 inches I don't think.

I'm not looking for a commercial grow or huge yields, I understand that my grow space is tiny compared to what I could have.

But what choice do I have? ^^

Did Attitude really say, "It takes 8 weeks of flowering to see the first buds." That's just ignorant.

no you will burn up the charger. ideally, a power supply or charger should produce double or close to double what you need to draw if the draw is for extended periods.

Ok, do you think I would be fine with two fans at 380? Or does it need to be really close to half of the capacity?

I haven't seen this mentioned and just want to double check before I start buying... If I was going to buy CFL's (not strip lights), would it matter if they were facing vertical or horizontally?

2 fans will be fine. the closer you get to full load, the harder the supply has to work and the less life it will have but at 3/4 of max draw, you should get at least several years.

Hmm, ok. I have a couple of spare 12v chargers too, so if it does decide to break then I can always replace.
