What does everyone use for viewing trichomes?

I look at trichomes with my naked eyes. Sometimes it helps to take a high-resolution picture of the flowers so I can zoom in on what my eyes struggle with seeing.

It's my honest opinion that trichomes don't need to be looked at closely, mostly because the structure of the individual stalks don't matter very much, but you could use a special microscope with a lot of working space rather than a slide platform.

AmScope SE400-Z Professional Binocular Stereo Microscope
AmScope - SM-4NTP 7X-45X Simul-Focal Stereo Lockable Zoom Microscope
3.5X-225X Simul-Focal 144-LED Articulating Zoom Stereo Microscope + 5MP Camera

... don't bother looking at trichomes. What I've observed over the years is that many who focus only on the trichomes harvest early. Trichomes are not as reliable as many make them out to be.
Correctamundo!!! Different buds mature at different rates, depending on where they are on the plant. You have to look at the overall plant, not just specific, selective bud observation.

Old bud:

Newer bud, same plant:

When you learn to listen to your plants, they'll tell you when they're ready.

But it is fun to look!

There are some pretty good damn microscopes out there......f'ing cheap, at least they were.....picked a digital microscope ( 50 -500x.......Amscope....about 20 some bucks so I could view image on tablet of trichomes from cut buds..I hate the old school microscopes, pain in the ass. For viewing trichomes on flowering plants , l use a " Carson" , 60-120x , LED lighted pocket microscopes.

I recommended that one already lol. But alas, I agree completely. $14, you can't go wrong

I like to look at the overall plants, take a sample bud and put it under a 1200 x's microscope, and look deep in the bud. I recently had a strain that finished at 28% THC and 1.77 terps (not great)... but it's a good tool, along with your naked eyes at the overall look of ripeness.

Oops , sometimes I just jump right in..........for that price I'm very impressed with
It's performance I use it to look at all sorts of shit .
This is what I have.. If you like to look at things like checking for bugs, or whatever, this thing is amazing for the price. I can get super sharp images at 1200 x's magnification. I can see Thrips like they are taking up the whole 7 inch LED screen. You can take pics and it'll be saved on the on board SD card, video, etc. I've seen some shit that I can't unsee. The micro world is pretty fascinating tho. I've even seen my own sweat glands opening and closing on my fingerprint with this thing. Freaky.

I have a similar unit, had it for a long time, like it alot. my only complaint really is it's hard to see under the lights, it washes out the lcd screen. i either have to take the plant out of the tent, or wait for the lights to go off.

Kinda looks like the same scope without the stand, it compensates for extra light automatically, and bigger screen. Take some of that anger out, and be mad at your credit card, and buy one of these,.... You'll be glad you did.

It's how I feel too, what more could you ask for? It gets the job done, for a reasonable price.

OP, if you decide to get one, just know that it DOES take getting used to. I just used mine for the first time and it does work. It's just, you need to put it down flat over whatever it is you're looking at. I'm sure there's a technique to view things like seen in the videos, but it is extremely hard to do.
