HID eats bulbs so when you factor in the bulb costs plus its 40% larger electricity bill month after month it becomes less appealing.
So lets say we have 6 1000w consuming 1050w each x 18hrs day 12 cents kwh = $400 month x 1
Flower as above at 12hrs = $276 month x 3 months = $828 + the Veg month = $1228 per crop
$1228 minus 40% gives a savings of $491 on electricity per crop with higher THC and denser buds.
$500 x 3 crops $1500 a year plus bulb costs of what $1200 ? anyways better make them diy Cobs or it makes little sense me thinks.
Not everyone transitions smoothly over to leds so it needs to be researched extensively to avoid problems.
I use led and hps like them both but am about to go all led and stop using the hps cooletubes which rock in my opinion well when in a tent.
