what do people put on the walls

ive seen several grow rooms with silver something on the walls i was just wondering what this was and what exactly its for

Its usually Mylar and it is to reflect the light so you get penetration into the sides of the plants.

If you're on a budget, emergency blankets (usually found in the camping dept at department stores) can be used.

I got lucky. I have a barn on my property and after I moved in I found a large mylar shade that use to hang in a double west facing window in my houe. I cut it into sheets and stapled it to some plywood and built a box. So far so good. There are some other reflective material on the market but imo Mylar's top.

mylar is good, but expensive. I believe it reflects either 95% or 98% where as black and white polly also known as panda film reflects about 90%. I prefer panda film because it's thicker and way more cheap. I bought a 50x10 foot roll for $50, where as mylar would be about $100 for the roll of same size.
