What do all you CFLers think of this?

I am fixing to go out of town for 10 days. Right now my plants are 15 days old, and have been on 24/0. Should I keep 'em on 24/0 'til I get back or should I kick it on to 12/12. That way I get back, I can sex 'em. Also, will they grow taller if I leave 24/0 or on 12/12, because I know they double in size throughout flower? I'm just worried they will grow to tall while I'm gone since I won't be able to train them.
Also for watering, I am doing a soil grow. I was just thinking of setting them up in a deep reservoir with a few gallons of water, and they have rope out the bottom to wick moisture, Y'all think it'll work? Thanks for any tips or advice. Peace.

ok, lights: sure, 12/12 would work good, since you're only out of town for 10 days, plus they'll need less water (from my experience). Also when you switch to 12/12, they're not just going to shoot up, it's going to take a few weeks before they really start to reach for the sky...

watering is a bitch though... you could try to mix in those polymer based hydrophilic compounds that will release water over time... maybe put some mulch around your plants ;)

personally, i'd keep em on ur current schedule, or even switch em to like 20/4 to save a little electricity and keep em veggin', You'll have some new growth to start training when you get back. Or, like you said, you could sex em early and then throw em back in veg for a while. Its your call really, bro. But yea for ten days, i'd plug a couple of those watering bulbs in there. Then pick back up when you return. Good luck sir.

I would leave them on veg because a smith to 12/12 can result in a quick stretch. USUALLY not until day 4-7 in my experience. Problem with that is with CFLs you keep them pretty close to your plants(I try to maintain 2-4") and a stretch while you're away could easily result in some burnt tops and flower sites. I have left for 5 days on veg and just set the lights higher to avoid burn but created stretch by doing so.

As for water, those globes are good. A good watering and a couple globes per plant should give you 7 days easy. You might lose a little growth due to saturation early on, but minimal.
