What color temp for my COB veg light?

CRI may have a large effect on the potential to encourage or inhibit stretch -w- cobs since it's a major factor in determining levels of deep red and far red. In theory any K will grow shorter plants with lower CRI.

@Rahz

Why use a lower CRI when we could simply go higher on the Kelvin scale and choose an emitter that gives the wavelengths we want?

Is there an upper limit to CRI and PPFD?

In other words, is there a point where CRI inhibits PPFD?

Never, although I have read there are several studies that support that theory.

It would be a good idea to play with that after you have everything else dialed in.
Yeah mate LED has giving me a New Life to growing and its almost Like learning to grow again lol I must say I am preferring LED So far my temps room humidity bang on the Bud's are frosty af and the psychosis I normally get smallish buds but they're swollen up lovely and the same thing with my critical mass, the foliage also staying nice and green And it's like you don't have to use as much Now during flower totally different plant's, love the savings too 29 units to 12

Low CRI inhibits potential PPFD / red per watt same as high K, both by modifying the color ratios. Consider high CRI, red ratio is increased to satisfy a color matching system and will be true at any K value.

Not all veg lamp recipes have the primary goal of keeping the plants as short as possible. My personal choice would be 4000K 80CRI as I want more light in the +600 range being that it's the most efficient while 80CRI keeps the deeper reds to a reasonable level. Nothing wrong with full cycling a low K high CRI lamp but personal preference or space restrictions can change what is most ideal. It would be interesting to see a side by side of various veg only spectrums since most tests are more concerned with flowering.
