What causes runt clones?

What causes runt clones? It seems like I always wind up with a couple of runts in every batch of clones. Anyone know what causes this?

I normally put the runts in the best spot under the light so they catch up but they never do. I know clones from the same mom are identical so what gives?

Good question...It would make sense for all clones to
be uniform, given they have the same structure as the
mother, but I've found it to be unpredictable how cuttings
are going to perform.

Sometimes my top shoots have done better, sometimes the
bottom end up turning into monsters...I would suggest
finding out which cuttings perform the best from the mother
based on where your cutting them from...:leaf:

i agree with you also jonny,im now getting about a 90% success rate now but i found in the past when i take my cuttings from the lower branches (where they get less light)they are always slow starting.
