What causes foxtailing?

Usually higher temps and genetics.. usually sativa Dom strains tend to foxtail more so than indica's do..

Usually the biggest 2 culprits are genetics and high temps.

My biggest plant last harvest fox tailed. I thought it was really pretty. It was a sativa and it climbed much higher to the lights than the other girls. So it was a little warmer than the plants usually get.

Not sure if it was genetics, the heat, or both. I didn't see it as a problem. The bud produced, smokes great, and pretty to look at.
