What causes bottom leaves to yellow and shrivel up?

It looks like normal yellowing due to using up of available nitrogen to me.

That's nitrogen def for sure. Just becareful not to suddenly dump too much nitrogen in either..but yes..definitely increase nitrogen ppm's. Also, for future grows, you either need a stronger light, or keep the light closer to the plants as they are very stretched! If using hps from the start..try adding some blue light as if you only use a 'redder' light in veg..the plant will stretch as well. Good luck!
