What can I feed my plants to grow crystals on the budds?

My limited understanding is that the chitin in the insect frass signals to the plant that there is a perceived insect invasion, and the plant protects itself accordingly by producing extra trichomes, however the insect frass itself is not harmful to the plant, and is in fact quite beneficial.

To be fair, I don’t know if it’s extra trichs, bigger trichs, or more productive trichs, but I think one of the three is happening. I don’t know of any research on this.

I personally have never tried it. At what point in flowering are you applying the insect frass application? You are soaking it in water before applying, or just topdressing?

I don’t use frass. I use a different product, but I use as a root drench and foliar through veg and continue the root drench through most of flower.

wow that's pretty dope. never thought that deep about it I guess. is there a similar response in other fruiting plants?

I'm using EWC from these 2 companies atm. Can't always get either of them so I just grab what I can

That GrowingYourGreens guy did interviews with both owners and they both explained that high chitin levels are their secret to extra good ewc. neither would divulge exact recipe but they was some suggestion that they are using either shrimp shells and/or insect frass as an input.
