The only con is it may be too 'hot' for some seedlings, but I don't know if thats really true or if people just had crappy seedlings. Ocean Forest is great, you can't really do wrong with it. I think its best to add perlite to it though, maybe 3 parts OC to 1 part perlite.

U can actualy order this online. I have before but a new store opened up with it and I have used it for my last few grows. I grow out of a full size room so I have used a lot of it. I love the stuff and havent seen any cons of having the soil and ive never heard of any. its pure organic to wich is the only thing Il use :) U could also mix it with foxfarm original and get some more variety of nutrients. Both organic, spend the same amount, get twice the nutrients, both nice mild npk.

FFOF is really good stuff, have used it on a variety of plants. Its generally accepted to be a well made, clean, and consistent soil that produces great plants. As mentioned, it may be a bit hot for seedlings, haven't tried it on seeds though so I can't really say with certainty. I started with this soil and still use it in my vegetable garden. The main cons I feel are related to soil itself and not FFOF as compared to a soiless medium like coco which I prefer, and is a whole other topic. You can't go wrong with FFOF though, its very forgiving and allows a bit of a buffer with its additions which gives you some nice flexibility when starting out or using a new nutrient schedule.

well im using it for my seedlings right now so ill let you know what happens but so far so good knock on wood
I've planted all my seeds in FF OF (1/3 - 1/4 perlite) and they've all done fine. I start seeds in party cups of ocean forest for 2 weeks (in cfl PC grow case) then into .8 gallon air pots. They last in that .8 gallon air pot for about 16-18 days before they start to yellow.

i've been using it for a couple years and i no longer use it straight out of the bag. the cons are the price, and i personally find it tends just a bit on the acid side, but that could be my water supply. it can also get a bit compacted for my liking after a few waterings. some people claim it to be a "hot" soil, i disagree for the most part. too hot for a seed perhaps, but just fine for any plant that has a little root ball. i now amend mine of with a lot of perlite and additional worm castings. yes, i said additional worm castings. besides being awesome in general, worm castings texturize the soil a bit more to my liking and give a tiny boost of n. 2 years later and i have to say it might be a bit overhyped, but still an excellent soil.

And I didn't take them out of the party cups when they started to yellow, I have no idea how long a 16oz party cup of Ocean Forest will last a seedling, I just took em out after 10-14 days because thats when I start feeling like CFL might not be getting the plants as much as they need.

Ive kept plants in a party cup for a month with good results..But im aiming for 3 weeks then in a 3 gallon to veg a couple more weeks then flower

Well i went out today to my local hydro Shop and picked up a 13.2 litres bag of Fox Farm potting soil which was not very expensive at all-it charged me $13.01 with tax-that's not bad i don't think! So I have decided to wait until week 3 of my grow to go ahead and transfer my grow into a bigger Flower Pot and use the Fox Farm potting soil i just bought! What i thought was expensive was the Nutrients Fox Farm Big Bloom and Fox Farm grow Big! Right there alone I'm going to easily spend $40, but I'm also going to wait until my 3rd week too pick that up just because it's not needed now. So I guess soon time will tell how well this soil actually is! I will for sure keep all posted!

I bet you could have gotten those two and a bottle of the other stuff for less than that on the internet

who knows what kind of residual nutrients they were unable to flushout from the MG harvest. I hope people are educating themselves on the possible harmful effects that some of those residual nutrients left by MG products can leave on your flowers even after intense flushing. I'm not preaching but advise for folks that wanna use MG, to only use during veg and read up about how MG works in flowering plants so you can understand the slow release compounds in their products and how it will afect your flower in the long run, thats all.

I used it once, didn't like it have since gone soiless. I used the FFOF that was left in the bag for tomatoes last year and will never buy it again. I prefer Happy Frogs which IMO is a much better soil from them which is what I use to start seedlings & clones. After my experience with it I read a post from a member with a degree in horticulture that FFOF was their worst mix and have seen lots of post where folks using it get Cal/Mag defs towards the end (same thing that happened to me and yes I added Lime)

I tried it cause everyone here seemed to love it and my experience was not all that but not slammin it, have never told anyone not to buy it
