What are some good veggies for indoors?

the economy being what it is ive decided to have a huge outdoor garden this year and try my hand at some indoor goodies as well. i want some opinions on what would grow good in my veg area and what would go good in my flower area. i have extra space in both areas with good light. i grow hydro currently but would like to have my new additions in dirt unless they can handle my herb nutes.

my thoughts were peas, green beans, strawberries(i heard of ones that fruit all year), iceberg lettuce, and some herbs.

i only know pot farming so any help would be appreciated.

if you can grow bannana peppers or any other hot wax pepper do it! you dont have to greow alot justenough to be able to pick them fresh when you barb-q and what you do is cut the top off stuff them with bacon and cheese or what everyou want and throw on the grill!!! just grow every thing you can thee is nothing better than the freshest shit strait from the gard!!! and you can use it as cover for a few outdoor girls!!!

my biggest problem is that im an indoor grower and thats all ive ever done and i cant admit to myself that the damn things will live if i just put them outside and let them do their thing. since spring sunlight is closer to 6500k would it hurt to put them outside in sunlight then under 400hps for longer daylight hours? at this time of year i have growing.

Mint : this is lovely with fresh boiled potatos, and can be dried well like weed and used.

salad greens: i love these has rocket, mustard, ect ect

some kind of mini chilli plant from tesco's

some cool ideas i use are.

hanging baskets, quick and simple, fill with dirt/leftover soil from weed grows, place some mint in centre and around edge your salad leaf. also in wind only smell you get is that fresh minty smell.

chilli/pepper plants go well on the windowsill look cool too. for the kids a sea of green water cress garden looks good and goes well in sandwiches. awesome cropping for a hydro system in place.

i also have too admit i live in countryside so alway on look out for some blackberrys and or apples, pears, plum trees anything that can be used and in season. a patio can be turned into a mini veg garden, cycle the veg you grow around your pots and containers too get the best out of your soil.

a smallish bin can be used too make compost, use shredded paper veg peel waste and old compost from potted house plants, a few months in the summer heat will have it cooking away ready for winter use and your herbs and indoor veg. or it can be used too grow root veg like carrots, shallots, radish and the likes.

i would love too somehow grow a small grapevine indoors around a kitchen window, it would look cool and be nice too pick them fresh.

start everything in veg room, then move into flowering room untill weather is ripe, then transport outside and wait too reap your reward, even grow over winter.

if things get a bit over the top, thin out your veg and give too neighours/family/friends

lol easy way too get round the cat problem.

Cat mint also known as catnip, they love this, grow a few round the garden, dry said cat mint and place in the sleeping area. you wont see them for weeks if you keep the cat mint topped up an fresh.

staple catmint to a pole of some type then coil round some old rope ( washed and cleaned ofcourse lol), cat will be round this pole all day. gives you the freedom of growing indoors with many problems.

Slik, if you find iceberg lettuce seeds, let me know where you got them. I'd like to grow some iceberg lettuce, but can't find the seeds. :(

I have Basil and some onions already started under a 6500K CFL, they're not in my veg area, not enough space. I'm forcing some tulips too. Just for some spring inside in a few weeks.

I'll have to check walmart, I'm always looking for so many seeds that I miss out on stuff.

If you're doing a garden, find something called Borage. Plant it here and there, it helps the soil and your plants will do better.

lets do legal grow journals of our legal garden items...ill be starting next week.
LOL Slik, that made my day, or at least started it out with a smile.
I've already picked up some seeds. For now, just tomatoes and spinach. There's no way I can grow this stuff outside.....damn rabbits and deer!!! I've grown just about everything from seed. Being the "critters" will eat just about every annual and perennial I labor over, I'm not even attempting to feed them even better goodies. Good luck to all of you. I hope you have a closed in fence and LOTS of bright sunshine.
